India is a country in South Asia, bordering on the Bay of Bengal. Its greatest treasure is the Taj Mahal, an enormous mausoleum. It also has large empty expanses, where battles between giant transforming robots can take place without anyone noticing.

A solar power plant off the Malabar Coast in India and its one-man staff fell under attack from Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp. Though Optimus Prime saved the plant worker and led his Autobots into battle to defend the installation, the three Seekers soon retreated of their own accord — the whole thing had been a diversion. Twenty years later, Trypticon stole the Taj Mahal. The identity of the thief was a mystery, and when Metroplex was mistakenly thought to have attempted to steal the Kremlin from Moscow, the Indian government accused the Autobots of the theft of the Taj Mahal. As it turned out, the Taj Mahal had been taken by Trypticon to Carbombya, and the Autobots were later able to return it. Thief in the Night

Having developed a new super smart-missile, Deathsaurus targeted Sambalpur in India. The Multiforce and Rescue Team sped to the area at Star Saber's order, and struggled to keep a train and some cars from the impact area. The missile struck, exploding... and promptly spawned four more missiles, that struck nearby locations, including Calcutta, the Deccan Plateau, and the Bay of Bengal. The Decepticons bombed Delhi to lure Optimus Prime to Earth. In a rather nasty touch, they bombed people who were trying to evacuate. The Gathering Darkness

Linkage

A spacecraft from Cybertron landed at the Deccan Plateau. Stella Holley, Rollbar, and the Super Stunt Team turned up not long after to investigate. They were swiftly attacked by Fixer Bugs and three Unicron-controlled Mini-Cons. Linkage #3 The brief battle was definitively decided when Scavenger intervened, chasing off the evil Mini-Cons. Scavenger presented them with the spacecraft and marched off, followed by Rollbar, while Stella and the other Mini-Cons departed via spacecraft. Linkage #4

The Veiled Threat

The island of Diego Garcia, the home base of NEST, is located several hundred miles away from India. Ironhide theorized that if the energon that the Autobots stored on Diego Garcia were to explode, the blast radius would not only reach the Indian coast, but have enough left over to wipe most of the country.
