Optimus Prime is an Autobot from the Cyberverse continuity family.

Optimus Prime is the legendary leader of the Autobots. He's good friends with Bumblebee, who is practically his right hand bot. Optimus Prime is the best leader an Autobot could ask for, and the worst nightmare a Decepticon could imagine. If you're looking for a hero, then he's your bot.

Once a mere file clerk, Matrix of Leadership Optimus was drawn to the charismatic Megatron's campaign for change, becoming one of his closest allies. During a meeting at Maccadam's Old Oil House, Optimus assured Megatron he would author the speech Megatron was to give at their upcoming rally. Maccadam's

At the rally, Optimus stood amongst Megatron’s closest allies as he unveiled the Decepticon movement. Though the rally was a success, Megatron's growing power began to reveal darker shades of his personality and ambition. As the revolution threatened to turn into war, Optimus took Bumblebee with him so they could speak to Megatron and try to peacefully resolve their issues. With neither Megatron or Optimus willing to bend to the other, Megatron declared open war on his old friend and his faction. Megatron Is My Hero

After an attack on the High Council at the hands of Megatron, the fatally wounded Alpha Trion had Bumblebee bring Optimus to him. Though Optimus blamed himself for the war, Trion reassured his protege that he had done what he felt was right and stayed true to himself. Before he passed however, Trion bestowed the Matrix of Leadership onto Optimus who accepted the talisman and became Optimus Prime. Matrix of Leadership

As the war escalated, Optimus was captured by the notorious Shadow Striker who stashed him in an Energon warehouse. Before he could delivered, Optimus was rescued by Bumblebee and brought back to Autobot territory. Shadowstriker Another adventure saw him personally carry a wounded Prowl across a battlefield. "I HAVE THE POWER!"

After learning that the Decepticons sought to use Vector Sigma to reprogram the AllSpark, Megatron Is My Hero the Autobots planned to keep the artifact out of Megatron's reach by sending it through a Space Bridge. Though the Decepticons put up a fierce fight, the Autobots ultimately succeeded in their goal, Decepticon firepower caused the Space Bridge to collapse after the AllSpark was sent through, sending it to parts unknown. Allspark Sometime later, Optimus and Bumblebee were being pursued by Starscream, Thundercracker and Nova Storm. After a short battle in the Grand Imperium resulting in the Seekers retreating, the pair reflected on Cybertron’s current state and how Optimus had failed to account for the debilitating effects that the AllSpark's absence would have on Cybertron. Realizing the mistake he'd made in launching the artifact, Optimus ordered the construction of a new Vanguard-class vessel so that the AllSpark could be located and retrieved. Matrix of Leadership

When the Ark was completed, it launched from Iacon. Fractured Among the Autobots joining him was Bumblebee, who shared a heartfelt goodbye with Windblade before Optimus called him to the ship. Memory

During their travels, the Autobots, running critically low on Energon, stopped on a nearby planet in response to an Energon reading. Once there, they found a race of subterranean creatures that attacked them on sight. During the battle, Optimus realized the creatures fed off of Energon and ordered his troops to retreat. Despite the planet containing much needed Energon, Optimus insisted it be left alone, finding it too high a moral cost to damn the aliens to extinction merely to ensure their own survival. Instead, he ordered the entire crew to enter stasis to conserve power. The Journey

On autopilot, the Ark made its way to Earth only to suffer a hull breach and crash, King of the Dinosaurs in Mount St. Hilary, its sleeping passengers blissfully unaware of their ship's fate. Awaken Sleeping Giants

This unintentional radio silence left many of the Autobots on Cybertron to question the fate of their missing comrades with Bumblebee's amnesia preventing him from answering Windblade's queries on Optimus's location. Fractured The Journey

Once Shockwave had hacked into Windblade and Bumblebee's cortical psychic patch, he trapped the scout in a fake memory that painted both he and Optimus as deep-cover Decepticons who had sabotaged the Ark. Realizing that Optimus would never commit such acts, Bumblebee managed to break free of the illusion. Sabotage

When Bumblebee's group had rediscovered the Ark, Teletraan-X managed to reactivate the ship and revive the crew. As Optimus caught up with his friends, getting a hug from Bumblebee, Teletraan informed everyone that a Decepticon fleet was bearing down on their location. Not wasting a moment, Optimus led his crew outside so they could confront their foes. Eruption

Optimus eventually addressed the populace of Earth on television to make the Autobot-Decepticon war public knowledge, and vowed to protect the planet to the best of his ability. Sea of Tranquility During this time, he also fought Megatron at a silo site. Spotted Later, he led the Autobots on an excursion to the moon to prevent the Decepticons from destroying the earth with his Planet Smasher. Optimus managed to overpower Megatron, forcing him to retreat, and he and the other Autobots managed to shut down the doomsday device. Sea of Tranquility Before they could pursue the Decepticons into the subterranean caves, the planetary engines the Decepticons had installed sprang to life and forced the moon on a collision course with Earth. Leaving a small team to work on deactivating the engines, Optimus lead his own squadron into the caves to secure the control room. Upon reaching their destination, the room self destructs, preventing them from disabling the engines. Fortunately, Wheeljack, Prowl and Hot Rod manage to hack the system and reverse the engines, moving the moon back into stable orbit. Satisfied, Optimus announced their victory to the people of Earth, echoing his previous promise to protect the planet. Bad Moon Rising

After returning to Earth, Optimus showed interest in the potential of Wheeljack's new Hyper Fuel to move the Ark out of its resting place. He later decided the material was too unstable for use after an incident involving a hyperactive Grimlock, one which he narrowly stopped through the use of Wheeljack's force shield blaster. The Visitor Shortly thereafter, Optimus was contacted by Megatron, who was holding Hot Rod captive, and demanded Prime give his own life if he wanted to save the young Autobot. Prime was prepared to agree, but when Hot Rod managed to free himself and escape, Optimus rescinded his agreement. Bring Me The Spark Of Optimus Prime

Now where have I seen this before?

After analyzing the GroundBridges appearing around the world to find their point of convergence, the Autobots sent Optimus through one to retrieve the AllSpark, where he found Megatron also arriving. Before they could clash, they were interrupted by Cheetor, the AllSpark's guardian, who granted them powerful new spark armor and pitted them against each other to win possession of the relic. While the two were distracted by the battle, Starscream snuck into the chamber and stole the AllSpark. Optimus, unaware of Starscream's new independence, accused Megatron of deceit and attempted to stop him, but Megatron escaped through another GroundBridge. Determined to prevent the Decepticons from misusing the relic, he convinced Cheetor to become their new ally and the two headed back to the Ark. Trials

After helping Cheetor make his acquaintance with the other Autobots, Optimus, along with Grimlock, Bumblebee, and Hot Rod, took Cheetor to the bridge, and had him explain his mysterious origins. After this explanation of his history, Optimus was determined to retake the AllSpark back from Megatron at all costs. To which, he led an assault on the Nemesis, and sent Cheetor, along with Hot Rod and Bumblebee, to find the AllSpark. As both Optimus and Megatron fought one another, they were interrupted by Cheetor, who explained how this conflict was pointless as the AllSpark wasn’t on the Decepticon warship, when Optimus demanded an explanation from Megatron, he discovered how Starscream had broken away from the Decepticons and stole the AllSpark for himself. This led to Optimus and Megatron calling a truce, and possible alliance against Starscream. Dark Birth

As Optimus prepared himself for negotiations with Megatron, he recalled a memory of him and Megatron arguing in Maccadam’s Old Oil House about a possible peace treaty between Autobots and Decepticons, one which ultimately failed. After the failed negotiations, Maccadam explained how he made the perfect mixture of Energon through trial and error, Optimus understood this lesson and vowed that no matter what, he would keep trying until there was peace between all Cybertronians. This lesson would carry on into his latest attempts of negotiations with Megatron to discuss the danger of Starscream. For once it seemed as though the negotiations would work out. But unfortunately for Prime and Megatron, their factions were not at ease with one another, and after Slipstream was killed trying to explain Starscream’s plan, the ensuing feud between both sides cause Megatron to deliberately cease negotiations, stating that’d there would be no peace between Autobots and Decepticons, and he took his faction back to the Nemesis, with another failed attempt of peace, Optimus decided they’d have to stop Starscream alone. Not long after this, Optimus sent Bumblebee, Hot Rod, Windblade, and Cheetor to Starscream’s lair, only to learn that the Decepticon had abandoned the base. Once they returned, however, they received an SOS from the Nemesis, which in turn prompted Optimus and a small group of Autobots to investigate, in turn, they discovered that something had drained all the Decepticons of their Energon. They would eventually meet the culprits in the form of the Scraplets, who managed to separate Optimus and Windblade from the rest of the group. As they made their way to the bridge, they saw Megatron laying on the ground, his Energon also drained. It didn’t take long for the Scraplets to surround them and damage Optimus, it was then that Starscream revealed himself and explained his plan, and communed with the Scraplet who was supposedly Alpha Trion and explained how he wanted the Matrix of Leadership back. When Optimus refused, Starscream had their Energon completely drained, and was prepared to seize the Matrix, until he was bested by Cheetor, who managed to use the AllSpark to restore everyone and disable the Scraplets. However, he was unable stop Starscream from escaping with the AllSpark, it was then that Megatron permitted Optimus and the Autobots to leave. Starscream's Children

Optimus would then assign the Autobots to different tasks in hopes of finding Starscream and the AllSpark, but failed to account for Cheetor, who wasn’t acknowledged by the Autobot leader as he was working at one of the terminals on the Ark’s Bridge. Later, after hearing of Starscream’s attempt to kidnap Cheetor and Bumblebee, Optimus stated that Cheetor would make an excellent Autobot scour after hearing of his training as well. Spotted

Released in the first Series of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Optimus changes from semi-truck cab to robot and back in a few simple steps. He has a molded "attack" weapon, in his case a large panel from his truck mode becomes his left-arm-mounted energon axe in robot mode.

Optimus was also released without changes in Series 2.

Scout Class

That looks like it's gotta hurt.

Cyberverse Scout Class Optimus Prime is a roughly Legends Class sized figure of Optimus Prime that transforms into a half-robot-half-truck thing, also known as a "transformational mode". When he is transformed, an ion blaster flips onto his arm, representing his "Ion Blast" Action Attack... which looks as if he has his own fusion cannon due to it being a humongous, arm-mounted cannon. Optimus also features one 5mm-compatible hand on his right arm. Perhaps he wants to have an optional weapon before pulling out the big gun?

This Cyberverse Scout Class Optimus Prime is a redeco/retool of the figure above, featuring a new head, a left arm with a 5mm-compatible hand, and a right arm with a molded Energon Axe. When it comes to deco patterns, this Optimus features additional paint operations on the lower legs, his front truck details, and his left hand. The deco on his thighs & waist are omitted.

1-Step Changers

At least he doesn't look like Megatron this time.

• Optimus Prime (1-Step Changer, 2018)

Released as part of the second wave of 1-Step Changers, this Cyberverse Optimus Prime is an all-new mold, with the transformation engineering taking cues from the Age of Extinction Galvatron toy. His transformation is triggered when you depress a tab on the back of his wind vane and spin the wind vane a full 360 degrees, deploying his robot mode. Rotating the wind vane clockwise changes him back into a truck. He features articulation at his shoulders.

He's hitting the Energon Goodies again.

This Cyberverse 1-Step Changer Optimus Prime is an all-new mold, using the same transformation scheme as Age of Extinction Optimus Prime. He also features an "Energon Axe Attack" Action Attack gimmick, which can be "wielded" horizontally or vertically. He is also slightly taller than the previous One-Step changer.

The CG stock photo on the packaging depicts his Energon Axe being painted in yellow before it was omitted in the final product.

Warrior Class

Released as part of the first wave of Cyberverse Warrior Class lineup, this Optimus Prime is a Deluxe-sized figure that converts into a robot to truck and back. He also features a pop-out axe on his left hand when pushing his back after the gimmick is set up. Because of this, he has both no left hand and elbow articulation.

Other promo photos of the product depict him having painted smokestacks which are not featured in the final product.

• Optimus Prime Battle Base Trailer (playset, 2018)

This figure is an unchanged re-release of the Cyberverse Optimus Prime figure above, but with a trailer. The trailer can interact with Scout Class up to Warrior Class figures. It also features a "Cannon Charge" Action Attack, where small cannons flip out of the front of the Trailer. The Trailer, when folded open, has a turret that a Scout class figure can sit awkwardly on. A single Warrior Class (or smaller) car can be stored in the trailer in vehicle mode.

• Optimus Prime and Starscream (Two-pack, 2019)

Released as part of the Power of the Spark sub-line, this Optimus Prime is basically unchanged from the first release, and he is sold along with an equally unchanged Starscream. The package also bears the logo for the franchise's 35th anniversary.

Ultra Class

Released as part of the third wave of Cyberverse Ultra Class toys, this Voyager-sized Optimus Prime's Action Attack gimmick consists of a large flip-out vehicle mode shield in the shape of the Autobot insignia that is based on his defensive shield seen in the episode "Matrix of Leadership", which is activated manually by pulling the shield out from the truck's underneath first, then it automatically flips up with a press of a button.

Ultimate Class

Matrix does not pop out with the effect part.

Cyberverse Ultimate Class Optimus Prime is a toy that transforms from a roughly Leader-sized robot to truck in around eleven steps. Articulation is somewhat limited for such a large toy, but sells at a cheaper price point as a trade-off. The arms have ratcheted elbows, a swiveling bicep, and shoulders that swivel forward and hinge outward. The legs have ratcheted hips and thigh swivels, plus a knee joint which is located further down the leg from the molded detail to facilitate transformation.

His truck mode is largely based on his G1 design but with cues from the War for Cybertron vehicle mode. As such, it looks like a big red fist on wheels. The shoulder panels that sport his two Autobot insignia tampographs fold forward to become his truck mode doors, hiding his faction symbols and therefore allowing this Optimus to be a better robot in disguise than most other Optimus Prime toys in existence.

His "Matrix Mega Shot" Action Attack gimmick utilizes the Matrix of Leadership within the figure's chest. This feature can be accessed in robot mode by pressing down just on his left clavicle, or in vehicle mode by pressing down on the top of the cab. In fact, you will likely deploy it on accident a lot due to how sensitive the button is, especially during transformation. Once deployed, it can be made to spin by rolling the truck mode forward (powered by the right front wheel) or by spinning the small red wheel on his robot mode side. This causes the clear blue "energy" details to open, revealing the Matrix underneath. This gimmick is gravity dependent, meaning it must be in the correct position to activate properly.

Unlike the other simple-assembly wheels, the front right wheel activates the gimmick in vehicle mode due to the connection between the gimmick's hexagonal joints. Because of this, only 5 out of 6 wheels can smoothly roll unless you pull him backwards or push it down while rolling him forwards, which also activates the spinning matrix inside the truck's cavity. A running change was also added: The locking tabs are now modified to allow the Matrix to rotate back securely in one touch. Due to the weight of his torso, the hip ratchets can barely support an even wider A-stance due to the combined weight of the upper torso.

Along with Megatron, Optimus Prime also saw a re-release in the third wave.

This Ultimate Class Optimus Prime is an all-new mold, utilizing a different transformation scheme. He also features both the Energon Axe action attack and a flip-out Armor triggered from his rear legs. This Optimus only features articulation on the arms, while his pair of legs is a brick as it was used to store the armor gimmick.

Elite Class

"Jet Jet! Jet Combat!"

Cyberverse Elite Class Optimus Prime is a smaller, Warrior Class-sized, less Action Attack-laden, new mold that transforms from robot to a smokestack-less truck. He also comes with a fighter jet accessory with built-in Gatling guns, which can form his battle armor in robot mode. Like all Elite Class toys, the accessory also comes with a unique built-in helmet. The wings automatically transform in place if the cockpit is folded down when combined with Optimus.

The Sky Turbine is based on a swing-wing jet of made-up model, with some design details being reminiscent of Jetfire. If features large undercarriage Gatling guns and, satisfyingly, folding nose-cone landing gear. When folded down as armor, the guns unlatch and swing beside Prime's arms using a spring-loaded mechanism, and wings rotate 180 degrees with the jet exhausts becoming shoulder-mounted cannons. For extra stability, the heel supports on Optimus are extra long to support the weight of the armor. Unlike most Elite-class Spark Armor, there are no larger hands sculpted in. This Optimus Prime can also tow the Battle Base Trailer.

While the promotional renders for the toy show a solid silver truck-mode grill, the actual toy has a red hinge arm in the middle. This is likely due to a planned paint operation being omitted from the final product.

Ark Power

If Gridman can save Christmas, so do I!

Released as the largest Cyberverse toy, Ark Power Optimus Prime is an all-new mold that features a completely different transformation from the Ultimate Class toy, albeit omitting the leg articulation. He also includes a large accessory that is modeled after the Ark, which also transforms into his battle armor with a molded blade for his gauntlet. The blade is stored in between the foot armor/engines of the Ark, which can itself be carried on the back of Prime's truck mode.

Deluxe Class

He comes with an Ion Blaster that can be wielded by his 5mm hands, and an effect part for his Matrix, which can be revealed by opening the chest panels.

McDonalds

• Optimus Prime Water Gun (2019)

Released as part of McDonalds Japan's “Happy Set All Star” promotion from August 16th to August 22nd, this translucent vinyl figurine of Optimus Prime features a water-squirting gimmick. He also comes with an Autobot insignia that features a color-changing paper if hit by the water launched from that figure (or any other water gun).

• Optimus Prime (Happy Meal Toy, 2019)

As a second Happy Meal promotion for Cyberverse, Optimus Prime is a 4-inch-tall non-transforming figure with articulation at the neck, hips and arms. As an Action Masters-esque play feature, he includes a small fighter jet (reminiscent of his Elite Class toy) that can be separated in half and reattached into various pins around his body as weapons or pieces of armor.

Burger King

• Optimus Prime (Burger King Toy, 2019)

Oddly enough released just one month before the aforementioned Happy Meal toy, Burger King's take on Optimus Prime is a non-transforming figure that also looks rather reminiscent to his Elite Class toy with the inclusion of a jet cockpit on his chest and a detachable set of wings on his back. His left arm and hips are articulated, whereas his right arm has a spring-loaded projectile launcher molded into it.

Notes

• As with the rest of the Cyberverse cast, Optimus Prime's design is based on the Evergreen design also used for his Generation 1 counterpart, with some minor stylistic tweaks.
• All merchandise depictions have his energon-axe colored orange. The actual cartoon depiction, however, is blue.
