Megatron is a Decepticon from the Cyberverse continuity family.

Megatron is the tyrannical leader of the Decepticons, being ruthless, cruel, and evil to the core. He was once friends with Optimus Prime, though exactly how boggles the mind. He plans to achieve galactic domination, though his plans are often thwarted by the Autobots.

Eons ago, Megatron was a gladiatorial champion on Cybertron, besting numerous powerful opponents, including Devastator Maximus whose brain module he crushed. Trials While Megatron's raw strength served him well in the gladiatorial pits, it was his charisma which netted him a large following of admirers from all flocks of life. Megatron Is My Hero Among his followers was Optimus, a file clerk who began to author Megatron's speeches to his following. Maccadam's At a rally, Megatron dubbed his movement 'Decepticons', and swore to create a new Cybertron that would bring equal rights to all citizens. As his power base grew however, Megatron's personality took a darker turn, eventually declaring open war on Optimus and his own followers. Megatron Is My Hero

Among Megatron's early acts was the execution of the High Council. Matrix of Leadership Once Shadow Striker had captured Optimus Prime, she intended to ship him to Megatron until Bumblebee freed his leader. Shadowstriker When Deadlock attempted to defect from the Decepticons, Megatron followed him to Maccadam's where he attempted to slay the traitor to serve as an example to others. Before he could however, Maccadam stormed into the room and transformed into his monstrous alternate mode, the mere sight of it cowing Megatron into retreating. Maccadam's Over the course of the war, Megatron would meet with Optimus several times to discuss a peaceful resolution to the conflict but the two were unable to come to a satisfactory compromise. Once the Decepticons had taken Vector Sigma, Megatron sought to use the supercomputer to reprogram the AllSpark and have it birth a new generation of loyal Decepticons. When Bumblebee discovered this, he was brought before Megatron who sadistically tore out the scout's voice box to prevent him from reporting what he'd learned. Megatron Is My Hero Despite Megatron's best efforts, the Autobots did manage to learn of his plan, managing to seize the AllSpark and send it through a space bridge. Allspark

In the year 2007, Megatron tracked the AllSpark to Earth, and sent Slipstream's Seeker squad there to retrieve it.

Catching wind of this intel, the Autobots on Cybertron sent Windblade to retrieve the artifact first only for her to come across the missing Bumblebee. Upon learning that her friend was suffering from amnesia, the cityspeaker attempted to use a cortical psychic patch to help him make sense of his memories. Among them was an undamaged memory of Megatron; however she was unable to access it before the patch malfunctioned and shut her out. Fractured

Once Windblade had begun making headway in fixing Bumblebee's mind, the scout began to remember Megatron in the earliest days of his revolution causing him to idealize the Decepticon leader as a hero. With Windblade's help however, he was able to remember the tyrant Megatron had become, being left to wonder how he could have ever considered the Decepticon someone to look up to. After Slipstream had consistently failed in her mission, Shockwave hacked into Bumblebee's cortical psychic patch and trapped the scout in a false memory that painted him as a Decepticon spy aboard the Ark who had sabotaged the ship at Megatron's direct order. Sabotage

When the Decepticon fleet invaded Earth, Megatron led the Nemesis to the organic planet. Eruption Bad Moon Rising The Cybertronians eventually became known to humankind. During a battle against Windblade, Megatron was caught on camera tripping over a powerline, winning the dubious honor of #3 on TOP3WEEKLY's "TOP ROBOT FAILS!!" video. Sea of Tranquility During this time, he also duelled Optimus Prime at an industrial complex, their battle being observed by Cheetor. Spotted

Eventually, Megatron decided that Earth wasn't worth conquering and ordered a Planet Smasher built on the moon. When a battle broke out, Megatron first used his tank mode to shoot up the Autobots before Optimus Prime engaged him in melee combat, the Autobot managing to score a nasty gash on Megatron's right leg, prompting the tyrant to call Starscream for air support. Though his order went unheeded, Megatron managed to escape the battle and make it to the force field. After tossing Starscream around, he demoted him by making Slipstream the new leader of the Seekers. When the Autobots brought down the Planet Smasher's force field, Megatron ordered the Decepticons to retreat into a lunar bunker. Sea of Tranquility In the bunker's control room, Shockwave activated his back-up plan of using planetary engines to slam the moon into the Earth so they could find the AllSpark in the debris field. Content with the plan, Megatron tried to order Slipstream to guard the Nemesis before his wound got the better of him. As he tried to get back up, a furious Starscream attacked him, firing all his missiles at point blank range before beating the tyrant into stasis lock, ordering that he be left behind when the control room was set to self-destruct. Surviving the explosion, though left heavily charred by it, Megatron made his way back to his flagship and enacted a swift and brutal vengeance against Starscream, ending with him firing the full might of his fusion cannon at the Seeker's back, deactivating him. After briefly regarding Starscream's prone form, he dumped the traitor's body out onto the lunar surface and ordered the Decepticons away from the moon. Bad Moon Rising

Ordering his flagship down on an island, Megatron broadcasted a propaganda video to the human race regarding Starscream's demise, before he offered the position of second-in-command to whichever one of his troops brought him the head of Optimus Prime. When Clobber and Lockdown brought him the bound Hot Rod, Megatron tried to use the Autobot as a bargaining chip with Optimus only for the youth to break free from his bonds and escape the Nemesis. Though Megatron targeted the Autobot with the on-board weapons, he was distracted by the sight of a creature jumping through a GroundBridge. Bring Me The Spark Of Optimus Prime

After every GroundBridge had been mapped, the AllSpark was located in Africa, Megatron stepping through a portal to collect it. Finding not only that his troops had not accompanied him but Optimus waiting for him, Megatron briefly duelled his opposite before they were both greeted by Cheetor, Guardian of the AllSpark who subjected both leaders to the "the trials" to determine who was worthy of the AllSpark. After a failed knowledge trial, Cheetor granted each leader spark armor, Megatron's formed from a helicopter, and they came to blows. Megatron eventually got the upper hand, pinning Optimus down for execution only for the Prime to hold him at gunpoint, being willing to kill them both. As this happened, no one noticed a still alive Starscream sneak in and steal the AllSpark until it was too late. Though he managed to save face with Optimus, Megatron returned to the Nemesis to commence a search for Starscream. Trials

As Shockwave tried to locate the missing Vector Sigma, the Nemesis came under attack from the Autobots, Megatron sending out his entire drone force to meet them. As Megatron duelled Optimus on the hangar deck, Cheetor loudly announced that the AllSpark was not on the ship, forcing Megatron to reveal the truth and cursing Cheetor, whose lunar GroundBridge had healed Starscream's otherwise fatal injuries. Agreeing to peace talks, Megatron had the Nemesis return to Mount St. Hilary for a negotiations. Despite their soldiers' idiosyncrasies, Megatron and Optimus made initial strides only for discussions to abruptly end when Grimlock threw Shockwave through a wall and onto the negotiation table, Megatron ordering his troops away. When the Nemesis returned to its island, it came under attack from Starscream's scraplet horde. Fighting his traitorous second on the bridge, Megatron was paralyzed by the beasts but managed to send out a garbled distress signal. When Cheetor defeated Starscream and broke the paralysis, Megatron allowed the Autobots to go free. Starscream's Children As the ship was slowly repaired, Megatron chose to motivate Shockwave to speed up the process by threatening to replace him with Soundwave. Megatron soon came under attack from Shockwave's severed hand before the scientist himself arrived, presenting Megatron with a drone controller that he could use to control Starscream's creatures. When Shockwave explained the perfected drone controller, the Nemesis came under attack from Jetfire. Unamused, Megatron told the bombastic Autobot to go play somewhere else. Soon afterwards, a still alive Sky-Byte arrived, recounting the gloriousness of the civilizations he'd destroyed before requesting the Decepticons' aid to destroy Jetfire (offering Megatron the head). Though an appealing prospect to Megatron, he denied to get involved in favour of continuing their search for the AllSpark. Jeftire soon returned, now clad in spark armor, and abducted Megatron. When Optimus called to reveal he'd had a similar encounter with Sky-Byte, Megatron directed everyone to meet a colosseum. Encouraging the two arch-enemies to settle their feud once and for all, Megatron amusedly watched Jetfire and Sky-Byte kill each other even as their fight unearthed magma deposits. When Jetfire got the upper hand, Megatron encouraged the Autobot to strike the killing blow only for him to retreat back to the Ark so that Optimus' wounds could be tended to. As Sky-Byte climbed out of the hole, Megatron held him a gunpoint and forced him to reveal the AllSpark's location. Infinite Vendetta

When Sky-Byte led the Decepticons back to the GroundBridge nexus, Megatron again found the Autobots had beaten him there before an AllSpark empowered Starscream arrived, arresting everyone's motor functions and forcing them to bow before him. Unimpressed by the Seeker's pettiness, Megatron openly mocked his former second's incompetence and failing streak before the Seeker began extracting all their sparks. Salvation came when Optimus Prime unleashed the Matrix of Leadership on Starscream, blasting the AllSpark out of him. Quick to recover, Megatron retrieved the artifact only to be assaulted by the now feral scraplets, losing his hold on it. Megatron soon found himself fighting Grimlock, with their duel destabilizing the chamber. Though Megatron managed to initially kick the Dinobot away and make a last ditch effort to get the AllSpark he was blindsided by the recovered Grimlock who sent him hurtling down a chasm. Detecting the launch of several Autobot shuttles, Megatron ordered the Nemesis to meet them, deploying several Decepticon scout ships to engage the smaller crafts. Though the Autobot ships were quickly destroyed, the AllSpark was not found in their debris field. Fortunately for the Decepticons, Sky-Byte had seen through the ruse and launched a one-bot attack on the Ark, giving the Nemesis enough time to intercept. Ordering the Ark destroyed, Megatron unleashed the full might of the Nemesis on its Autobot counterpart only for Cheetor to heal it with the AllSpark allowing the nimbler ship to slip past. To prevent the Autobots from entering Earth's space bridge, Shockwave used a hard-light hologram to simulate its destruction, the Ark instead rocketing off into deep space. Pleased with Shockwave's ploy, Megatron ordered the Nemesis through the portal and to Cybertron. Escape From Earth

Megatron eventually managed to capture Chromia and forced her to send out a false distress call to the Ark. When the Autobot ship emerged from Cybertron's space bridge, Megatron praised the Autobot femme before rallying his troops for battle. The Crossroads

Tiny Turbo Changers

Released in Series 1 of Cyberverse Tiny Turbo Changers, Megatron changes from a stubby little tank to a robot in a few steps. Like many of his other toys, he features he an "energon mace" molded in place of his left hand.

Megatron was also released in Series 2 of the line without changes.

Scout Class

Cyberverse Scout Class Megatron is a Scout scale toy that transforms from a robot to a robot sitting down a "transformational" mode in six easy steps. His Action Attack gimmick causes an Energon mace to pop out of his right arm when triggered.

Prototype photos depict him having a silver painted body which are not featured in the final product.

A second, more gimmick-y mold of the One-Step Changer Megatron features a spring-loaded missile. His transformation consists of flipping his rear feet on the tank to the front to transform him.

Warrior Class

Cyberverse Warrior Class Megatron is a Deluxe-sized mold that transforms from tank to robot mode in 9 steps. Pushing the switch on his back raises his left arm while activating his launching "Fusion Mace" gimmick, which launches his flail with a short string, and it must be retracted manually. Due to the simplified transformation, Megatron's arms ended up sticking out from his tank mode, and his hips & thighs (slightly) are sticking out to the front, making his crotch vulnerable in vehicle mode.

His lower legs have a tendency to fall off, as they are held in with (nearly flat) plastic nubs. His red paint on his mace arm has a tendency to flake with transformations, as does the black paint on the back of his hips.

Ultimate Class

Cyberverse Ultimate Class Megatron is a roughly Leader Class-sized toy that transforms from a heavily G1-inspired robot to tank in around eleven steps. He comes with a "Fusion Mega Shot" Action Attack gimmick, which unfolds the cannon into an elongated pink barrel when the button to his left is pushed, reminiscent of a similar attack used by his live action counterpart. Additionally, he has an autotransforming head reveal activated when his waist is swing down, though his arms still need to be in turret mode for it to work correctly. Due to this feature, he has no neck swivel, despite the depiction in his stock render.

Megatron is unusual for his size in lacking elbows. Otherwise, he features ratcheted swivels and outward hinges in his hips, hinged knees, and shoulders with forward and lateral joints. Despite his Fusion Cannon being permanently attached to his arm, his right fist still has a covered-up hole for 5 mm pegs. Due to his transformation scheme, Megatron can also achieve a "transformational mode" like his Scout Class toy.

Unfortunately, Some of the hips' ratcheting gear teeth had a tendency to snap off after many poses, which also forces Megatron to slightly lean forward, especially when he's in his Action Attack position.

This toy is one of the items that is released as part of Hasbro's Transformers 35th Anniversary promotional mailer box. Megatron also saw a re-release in the third wave.

Elite Class

Cyberverse Elite Class Megatron is a smaller, Warrior Class-sized, less Action Attack-laden new mold with more articulation that transforms from robot to a tank that is evocative of his Warrior Class toy, complete with vulnerable robot mode crotch in tank mode. He comes with his signature Fusion Cannon and a "Chopper Cut" Spark Armor accessory that is modeled after an attack chopper that can form battle armor in robot mode. Like all Elite Class toys, the accessory also comes with a unique built-in helmet. When flipping down the piece with the alternate head while attaching the Spark Armor, a spring-loaded gimmick is activated causing the propellor to spin and two additional arms to flip out, one with a built-in mace and the other you can attach the included Fusion Cannon to. This configuration causes the original robot arms to dangle awkwardly at the sides, but this can be remedied by bending the arms at the elbows to a 45-degree angle and rotating the lower arms until the fists point straight towards the back, streamlining the look of the armored robot mode.

Deluxe Class

Released as part of the Cyberverse Deluxe Class lineup, this Megatron is a show-accurate mold that is more poseable than most of his previous releases. He also comes with an effect part that is compatible with his Fusion Cannon.

As a second Happy Meal promotion for Cyberverse,; Megatron is a 4-inch-tall non-transforming figure with articulation at the hips and arms. As an Action Master-esque play feature, he includes a small helicopter (reminiscent of his Elite Class toy, albeit in grey rather than purple) that can be separated from its propeller and reattached into various pins around his body as weapons or pieces of armor.

Burger King

• Megatron (Burger King Toy, 2019)

Oddly enough released just one month before the aforementioned Happy Meal toy, Burger King's take on Megatron is a non-transforming figure that also looks rather reminiscent to his Elite Class toy with the inclusion of some purple helicopter parts and a detachable propeller on his back. His hips and arms are articulated, making him the only one of the four Cyberverse Burger King figures with all three points of articulation being independently available.

Notes

• As with the rest of the Cyberverse cast, Megatron's design is based on the evergreen design also used for his Generation 1 counterpart, with some minor stylistic tweaks.
• Megatron speaks with a peculiar accent, somewhere between Irish and American. Perhaps this is the Tarnian accent his IDW incarnation was known for?
• Megatron's mace on the toys are pink, similar to the G1 cartoon's purple. The actual cartoon coloration in Cyberverse, however, is red. This is similar to how on Optimus Prime's toys his axe is coloured orange, but in the cartoon is actually blue.
• The Japanese dub gives Cyberverse Megatron a similar personality to the Japanese dub version of Beast Wars Megatron. Unsurprising, considering they're voiced by the same guy. This could be deliberate, as the Japanese dub of Optimus Prime is voiced by the Japanese dub actor of Optimus Primal.
