A voice box, (interchangeably called a voicebox, voice capacitor, voice chip, vocoder, voice synthesizer, or a speech synthesizer) is a biomechanism that allows Transformers to speak in the spoken word. Without the aid of a voice box, a Transformer can usually only communicate via electronic noises which can be interpreted by others of their kind but not generally by humans—unless you are Raf Esquivel...

[edit]When the AllSpark was due to be launched off Cybertron, Bumblebee distracted Megatron long enough for the sacred relic to plunge into a wormhole and out of the tyrant's immediate grasp. Before he launched off after it, in act of utterly petty revenge, Megatron crushed the scout's voice capacitor beyond repair. Movie Prequel #1 After the battle in Mission City, Bumblebee regained his voice Alliance #1 but lost it soon thereafter when he threw himself in front of one of Starscream's attacks, saving Salani and Robert Epps. [edit]Daytrader provided Bumblebee with a new voice box that he'd managed to pick up on his travels. Upon installation, however, Bumblebee was quite miffed to find it wasn't his voice.
