Alan Dean Foster is an American science fiction and fantasy writer.
A prolific author (and in some cases, ghostwriter) of movie novelizations, Foster wrote both the novelization of the 2007 Transformers movie and the prequel novel Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday. The latter was originally to be written by David Cian, but Cian's version didn't meet Paramount's and Hasbro's expectations, therefore Foster was hired to rewrite Cian's 62,000 word manuscript.
