Greenlight is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
THREETWOONE

Greenlight, back when she was impetuous and untested, was once one of Cybertron's most promising young scientists. But then the war came. Unlike before, when she could only abstractly mourn for the lives lost, it took the loss of a friend to make her realize that she, too, had a stake in the outcome.

Fiction

Generation 1 cartoon continuity

The Transformers cartoon

Pssst, hey, Greenlight, pay attention!

Greenlight was a member of the Female Autobots, an underground resistance movement on Cybertron. Four million years ago, she and the other Female Autobots tried to board the Ark, but they failed and were thought destroyed until they were rediscovered in modern times.

Greenlight was manning a series of monitors in the team's secret underground headquarters when Chromia and her team returned from their energy-stealing mission. Later, when their headquarters was located and destroyed, she and Lancer freed Moonracer from the debris. Sticking with the rest of the team, she did her share in the fight against the Decepticons and could again later be seen manning a series of monitors in the team's new base. The Search for Alpha Trion

Wings Universe

Wings Universe is based on the Generation 1 cartoon, but deviates from it in cosmetic ways and continuity points.

Greenlight and Lancer were amateur historians and the assistants of the archaeometrist named Glyph. They were assigned to Flipsides's excavation site in Median, where they uncovered a mysterious artifact known as the Heart of the Dragon. Unfortunately, Decepticon raiders from Quarex also learned of their discovery. The historians requested aid from the Autobot Elite Guard to defend themselves and their find. Greenlight helped Strika, Lancer and the Elite Guard fortify Median against Rage's Stormtroopers. Unlike her fellow neophyte Lancer, however, Greenlight showed no interest in engaging the enemy. She remained in hiding near the dig with Glyph and Flip Sides while the others fought off the Decepticons. Rage and Aquablast managed to infiltrate the defenses and reach the chamber where the historians were hiding, though, and Aquablast killed Glyph before Greenlight's optics. They were only saved by the last minute arrival of Lancer, wielding a borrowed laser weapon. Flames of Yesterday

When the Autobots' current reserve of energies was dangerously low, Greenlight joined her comrades still on Cybertron in stasis hibernation as an energy-saving measure. Battle Lines, Part 6

2005 IDW continuity

First appearance: The Transformers: Windblade vol. 2 #7
>Be me

Greenlight served aboard the permanently spacefaring Titan Carcer, under the command of Elita One. Having been unable to keep Lancer from getting too friendly during roll call, the two were assigned to guard Carcer's space bridge, as Cybertronians had recently come through it, violently clashing with each other. Greenlight grew increasingly bored, saying that no one had used the space bridge in weeks, and she wasn't really sure that actual Cybertronians had come through it. Lancer assured her that they had, and almost immediately after, the bridge activated. While Lancer radioed the bridge of the ship, Greenlight joined with the other reinforcements in "welcoming" Starscream and Windblade to their ship. The Will of the Few

After Carcer's inhabitants had joined the Council of Worlds, many of them emigrated to Cybertron while Carcer himself was being repaired, Greenlight among them. She and Lancer were trying to enjoy a quiet drink together at Maccadam's when a drunk Decepticon harassed them. After Lancer told him he wasn't making any sense, Greenlight stated that the couple were from Carcer, anyway, and that he should get lost. 07:00:00

As she and Lancer were loitering, Carcer's sensors picked up an army of zombie Titans headed towards Cybertron, alerting Obsidian of the threat. Ping After Elita had refused to transform Carcer into robot mode, Lancer and Greenlight exchanged guilty glances but ultimately remained loyal to the First. Desperate Times When the Cybertronian fleet tried to claim Carcer by force, Greenlight and Lancer remained in the control room, reporting everything to Obsidian, including the hull breach that had sealed itself suspiciously fast. Desperate Measures

When Windblade awoke Carcer however, Cybertron learnt he was truly Vigilem, the Titan of Liege Maximo who had freed his master before dying. When Chromia was tasked to hunt down the rogue Prime, Greenlight and Lancer joined her aboard the Sabre. The Chosen One

Soon after heading out however, the trio came under attack from the Prime's Maximal enforcers, damaging their long range communications. By the time they'd repaired them, they were in G Nebula 89 as the Decepticon Vengeance Division squared off against Unicron. Despite their immense firepower, the Decepticon fleet failed to damage the Chaos Bringer, with Chromia ordering the ship back to Cybertron once Unicron teleported away. Stranger Eons When the trio returned however, Unicron had now assumed a towering robot mode and had sent the mutated DVD against the Autobot fleet defending the planet. Our Finest As Unicron began to tear into Cybertron however, the Spectral Knights used the magic of the Talisman to teleport the planet's population to the safe haven of Earth, the fleet following shortly afterwards thanks to Elita One's sacrifice. Road's End

2019 IDW continuity

Gauge has two mommies.

A xenobiologist, Greenlight fell in love with Arcee at some point after the end of the War of the Threefold Spark and the two set up a life together. Arcee/Greenlight: Run During Sentinel Prime's reign, Arcee was chosen to mentor a young Cybertronian and Greenlight joined her partner at the Pyramid for the customary ceremony where Orion Pax introduced the pair to their ward, Gauge. The World In Your Eyes Part Four Not long afterwards, Greenlight lent her biological knowledge to an investigation surrounding several murders in Iacon, and assisted Ratchet with a forenstic autopsy on the young Cybertronian Rubble and a dead Voin. The specialists agreed that both victims were struck with massive force, meaning they were likely killed by the same perpetrator. As Gauge was only a few days younger than Rubble, the investigation left Greenlight shaken and worried for the future of her own mentee. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part One

Things only grew worse in the days that followed, which culminated in the destruction of the Memorial Crater and the explosive death of an immersant Titan. Fearing that Cybertron would no longer be safe for Gauge, Greenlight looked for a way off-world and learned that Heretech's Reversionist faction planned to leave the planet aboard the starship Exodus. While Gauge apprenticed herself to Grapple, Greenlight raised her concerns to a reluctant Arcee, but had to assuage Gauge's concerns when the litle 'bot overheard some malicious rumors about her forging. The situation soon spiralled out of control after The Rise attacked the Winged Moon, sending the Tether crashing down on top of Iacon. In the chaos that followed, Arcee agreed with Greenlight's plan to leave their homeworld as soon as possible. The two made for the launch site and just barely managed to board the ship in time before it took off. Arcee/Greenlight: Run

War for Cybertron: Siege

>First toy is introduced in War For Cybertron: Siege.
>Has 5 mm holes removed from her forearms.
  • Autobot Greenlight & Dazzlestrike (Multi-pack, 2019)
    • ID number: WFC-S15
    • Accessories: Prime Armor/combiner hand/"C-50 Sonic Electro-Armor", Prime Master gap filler/gun, Battle Master Dazzlestrike, slashing "Fire Blast" effect
For her first figure since her debut in 1985, Siege Greenlight is a retooling of Power of the Primes Moonracer/Novastar, featuring a new headsculpt, the removal of the 5 mm ports and hinged wrists from her forearms, and remolded chest, shins and feet. Unlike Chromia from the same line, who merely resembles the original mold, her Combiner Wars-style Combiner parts are left intact, allowing her to form an arm or leg for any Combiner Wars-style Combiner, though she is intended to combine with her mold-mates and Elita One to form Orthia.
This set also includes Dazzlestrike, a redeco of Siege Lionizer with a new effect part.
In the U.S., Greenlight and Dazzlestrike were available only from Amazon, and only to Amazon Prime members. The pack was available at general retail in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
This mold was also to make Lancer. In addition, it is superficially similar to but distinct from Siege Chromia and Nightbird.

Notes

  • Greenlight was only known as the "Unnamed Green Female Autobot" for a good 25 years until she was named in the Timelines text story, "Flames of Yesterday", as were a handful of other previously-unnamed female Autobots.
  • The Club Udon special edition cover to G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers: The Art of War #2, which is dedicated to the ladies of the two brands, surprisingly features what appears to be Lancer with Greenlight's colors. This is the only instance during the 25 years between the airing of "The Search for Alpha Trion" and the publication of "Flames of Yesterday" that these characters have been referenced.
  • In the 2005-2018 IDW continuity, Greenlight and Lancer are a romantic couple, the first on-panel female couple shown in a Transformers story, though Proxima and Acceleron were the first mentioned.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Greenlight (グリーンライト Gurīnraito)
