BotCon 2016 was held in Louisville, Kentucky, from April 7 to April 10, 2016. Hasbro announced, via a letter distributed at the convention, that BotCon 2016 would be the last convention that Fun Publications would produce, and the last BotCon "in its current format".

• On September 4, 2015, the date and location of BotCon 2016 were announced.
• On October 3, 2015, Botcon.com revealed the BotCon 2016 theme of Dawn of the Predacus and the first exclusive of Tripredacus Agent Ravage.
• On October 9, 2015, Botcon.com revealed the exclusive Predacon Secret Police Tarantulas.
• On October 15, 2015, Botcon.com revealed the exclusive Predacon General Ramhorn.
• On October 22, 2015, Botcon.com revealed the exclusive Predacon General Cicadacon.
• On October 29, 2015, Botcon.com revealed the exclusive Predacon General Seaclamp.
• On November 12, 2015, the brochure went online.
• On January 13, 2016, Venus Terzo was announced as a guest.

• On March 17, 2016, in a surprising turn of events, Terrorsaur was revealed as the convention's attendee freebie figure.
