The Vok probe is a large device used by the Vok to collect data on organisms and environments. It gives off high levels of stable energon radiation, which it can release as an offensive burst, rendering Transformers unconscious. It has the ability to teleport other beings or digitize their physical forms while maintaining their consciousness within itself for study. It can transport itself through transwarp space, or dematerialize at will.
The Vok probe is neither sentient nor sapient.

Beast Wars cartoon

The Vok probe was sent to ancient Earth to investigate a disturbance at the Standing Stones. On arrival at the site, it stopped and waited. Optimus Primal and Dinobot from the Maximal forces, and Megatron and Waspinator from the Predacon forces all arrived at more or less the same time to investigate the landing. When conflict inevitably broke out, the probe used an energy burst to disable all of the combatants, returning three of them to their respective bases, and digitally storing Primal within itself.
Primal was able to communicate with the Axalon, notifying the other Maximals of his situation. Rhinox set to work building a device to extract Primal, however when used the result proved ineffective. Fortunately for the Maximals, Waspinator accidentally triggered some sort of process, which caused the probe to open and disgorge Optimus. The Maximals subsequently secured the probe, only to watch it dematerialize. Chain of Command
