Beavop

Beavop is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.

As far as we know, not friends with Rocksteady.

"Eager beaver" might be an old Earth cliche, but it's a 100% accurate description of Beavop (ビーバップ Bībappu). An honest and helpful sort, he has a hard time saying "no" to friends or even friendly strangers. He's always thinking of how he can help others and will put their needs above his own. Which might explain how this artist and architect ended up as a reconnaissance officer during the Great War for planet Beast; as one of the few fighters in White Leo's forces capable of underwater operation (Alligatron definitely got the, um, lion's share of aquatic agents), Beavop's rocket-fast swimming and keen eye for detail are well-suited to the job. Though his creative skills proved useful as well, as he can quickly create temporary bases, fortifications and ingenious traps, using his mighty Saw Beat (ソービート Sō Bīto) saw-sword's cutting aura to quickly chop down even the mightiest of trees for raw materials.

Following the war, Beavop put his talents as a builder to use as Emperor of Arxan. Paired with the enthusiastic and inventive King Power Jaguar, the two are capable of amazing construction feats; with the right materials, they can build a functional airplane in less than half a day.

Part of the second series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Beavopis a yellow anthropomorphic beaver in brown robotic armor. The rubsign on his chest reveals one of three symbols; Fire, Water or Wood.

He came in a green-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box, with a bio card with a painted character image on a jungle backdrop. Re-released in Series 3, the box was unchanged, but the bio card replaced the painted image with a simpler line-art image, first used in Hasbro's Battle Beasts cast poster. In both Series, depending on the "Pack" he came in, there was a chance of his bio card being replaced with a rare "Secret Photo", "Bewitching Serpent Seal", or "VS Holography Mirror" card.

Re-released in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series, Beavop was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with corrected coloring. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Saw Beat".

He was sold in two similar-but-different styles of boxes. One wholly-generic version, sold in large display boxes like the Transformers releases, advertised the chance for the included bio card to instead be a rare holofoil card of White Leo with a "Burstsun" rubsign in a baggie taped to the back, so you could apply it to the Beastformer of your choice. The more common version has a slightly different box with a peg-hole in the top flap, and has a sticker on the bottom with his name and role on it.

Late in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

Notes

• Beavop's 1987 poster-checklist art does not have any art errors of note, but it was edited for his 1988 card beyond the normal recoloring all the character art got: his right hand and sword were re-positioned from their downward-horizontal to be upright, to better fit the confines of a character card.
• Beavop's 1988 bio card gives him the nickname "Beat" (ビート Bīto), and notes he was born in the Arxan River.
