Two in the box! Ready to go! We be fast, and THEY BE SLOW!

The ghost trap is a device used to capture and contain ghosts ensnared by a proton pack for transport to the ghost containment unit at the Ghostbusters headquarters. In use, once an operator has ensnared a ghost with a stream from the proton pack, the trap is slid directly underneath the ghost. A switch is then activated to open the trap, drawing in the ghost and closing when the apparition is contained.

After containing a tentacled ghost that was menacing Prospect Park, Ray Stantz deployed a ghost trap that sucked it up. As the Ghostbusters returned to Ecto-1, they found a duplicate sitting on the grass before the ghost of Starscream appeared to them, the ghost trap being redeployed and drawing in the Seeker. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 1 The duplicate car then revealed itself to be Ectronymous Diamatron who, believing the ghost had been but a hologram, shorted out the ghost trap. The Ghostbusters were quick to respond, restraining Starscream and using the threat of a second ghost trap to keep him cooperative. When a Kremzeek sprite arrived, an unimpressed Peter Venkman used the second trap to casually contain the creature before its electrical makeup overloaded the trap and caused it to violently explode. Starscream used the opportunity to make a disparaging remark about humanity's intelligence as Venkman grumbled about the cost of replacing both traps. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 2

After the sprite had been defeated, the group returned to the Ghostbusters firehouse where Venkman, quickly pegging Starscream as a schemer, trapped him in wall-mounted ghost trap. When the Ghostbusters went off to Brooklyn to respond to a ghost sighting, Kremzeek the Scavenger infiltrated the firehouse and caused a power surge in the trap, freeing Starscream. In Brooklyn, detecting a PKE signature similar to Kremzeek's, Ray, Ectotron, and Egon Spengler modified a ghost trap to better contain an electricity consuming ghost. Upon their return to the firehouse, they found Optimus Prime waiting for them, Venkman collecting Starscream's trap only to find it empty. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 3

Tracking the errant Seeker to the Grosbeak Generating Station, the group met with the genuine Kremzeek who engaged Optimus Prime in physical combat. As the humans debated ideas on how to defeat the electrostatic being, Ectotron revealed that he still possessed the trap holding the electricity feasting ghost, along with two empty ones, Ray opening the trap so the spectre would be drawn to Kremzeek and short both of them out. Defeating Krezmeek, however, had the side-effect of freeing the trapped spirits of Decepticon High Command. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 4 While two of the traps were quickly used to capture Soundwave and Shockwave, Megatron wound up possessing Ectotron, using his body to fight against Optimus. As the ghost traps were unable to capture a possessing spectre, the warlord was forced out via a canister of mood slime before being sealed in the last trap. When the Autobots left Earth, Optimus took the three ghost traps with him, hoping to one day rehabilitate the Decepticons before using the AllSpark to resurrect them. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 5
