The Copy Machine (コピーマシン Kopī Mashin) is a device left by the former inhabitants of Gaia. It has the ability to create mostly monochromatic copies of beings, usually making them evil.

The Copy Machine was left by Starscream in some ancient ruins as a trap for the Autobots; Bound Rogue found it and brought it to the Autobot base after using its power to duplicate a mountain. The machine was subsequently used on Lio Convoy, producing the evil Lio Convoy Black Version. The Secret of Lio Convoy Black Version's Birth!?

The relevance of the Robotmasters blurb to the greater Japanese Generation 1 canon is dubious.
