The so-named "Great Upgrade" refers to the planetwide restructuring of the geographical, political, and physiological properties of Planet Cybertron and its people following the end of the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons. It involved a mass downsizing of nearly the entirety of the planet's population, as the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons—respectively the Maximals and Predacons—came into being and rose to power, essentially replacing their ancestral predecessors as the planet's new dominate peoples.
