The mode lock is a handy way to restrain a prisoner. When affixed it prevents the affected Transformer from transforming out of their alternate mode or taking any independent action except speaking. It also can be tracked to a radius of 50,000 miles. A mode locked Transformer can be controlled by radio.

An unexpected encounter with the Combaticons allowed Blaster the chance to convince some humans to remove it and save their lives.
