The Thraal are a race of humanoid beings who share a history with the peaceful A'ovan. The two groups do not get along very well, which likely is due to the Thraal's war-based culture.

[edit]The blue-skinned Thraal shared their homeworld of Na'conda with the green-skinned A'ovan. One element of their culture was that the Thraal obeyed the best warrior, even if that individual was not a Thraal themselves; although they had not yet developed spaceflight, Thraal weaponry was quite advanced and included advanced armored battlesuits.
Ratchet got stuck on the Thraal's and A'ovan's planet after an incident involving a foldspace warhead. Upon scanning a Thraal tank to blend in, Ratchet additionally received information from the tank's onboard computer about the reasons and current situation of the war. An all-out attack by the Thraal on the last A'ovan stronghold motivated Ratchet to interfere, and he engaged the Thraal leader, Durguth, in combat. Due to the Thraal's hierarchal system, none came to help their leader or continued the battle against the A'ovan while Durguth's authority wasn't certain. Ratchet won the battle, thereby becoming the new ruler of the Thraal Imperium. Being an Autobot, Ratchet used his position to mediate between the Thraal and A'ovan and end the war. Hostile and secretive, the Thraal controlled a region of space and had gone to war with various other intelligent species in the past, including the Occulted Dremden, which only ended after Cybertronian negotiators were called in to help draft a ceasefire agreement. Cybertron's xenorelations ensured that Cybertron maintained nonhostile relations with the aliens, and new recruits were instructed to deny any rumors of Cybertronian interference in Thraal politics. Nautica: Home
In the years just before the Great War, the Thraal went to war against the A'ovan, and wound up sterilizing the A'ovan homeworld with nuclear weapons. The World In Your Eyes Part Two Escape Part One Cybertron took in the A'ovan refugees; while the vast majority of Thraal were content with the outcome of the war, a smaller contingent of anti-A'ovan hardliners wanted to complete their extermination of the species, and periodically petitioned Sentinel Prime to expel the last few A'ovan refugees from Cybertron so that they could finish the job.
During Sentinel Prime's tour of Cybertron's colonies, Head of Xenorelations Nautica uncovered and foiled a Thraal terrorist attack, believing that it had been masterminded by the anti-A'ovan extremists as part of a coordinated effort to punish the Cybertronians for their foreign policy. Nautica: Home The destruction of the Tether led some Cybertronians to believe that these same Thraal had orchestrated the attack, and Voxpop aggressively pushed this conspiracy theory during an interview on Andromeda's show. We Have Deceived You
After the fall of Swindle's, Trickdiamond used Thraal technology to break the businesses' namesake out of prison. Hunt Perceptor later incorporated Thraal technology into a teleportation harness that enhanced Jumpstream's powers. Test Flight I
When the harness went out of control, Jumpstream traveled to a dystopian future where Exarchon ruled the planet, several Thraals had joined the Mercenary faction, selling off the rebel Cybertronians. Test Flight II
Notes
