Maximal Reconnaissance Ship

Maximal Reconnaissance Ships (サイバトロン偵察機 Cybertron Teisatsuki) are one-man spaceships used by the Maximals for reconnaissance and other ostensibly low-risk small trips. In case of danger, the pilot has to rely on the twin lasers mounted at the front. Maximal Reconnaissance Ships come in two variations: with or without tailfin. The tailfin might be an indication of rank, but it might also not.

The Convoy Unit received an SOS from an asteroid belt, so Convoy and Apache each manned one of the Maximal Reconnaissance Ships in the garage of the Maximal Space Station to go investigate. Despite that they both knew the odd SOS could be a trap, Apache flew straight towards the source, a remarkably large asteroid in the center, zipping around the smaller ones at great speed. However, the super-asteroid suddenly started to move towards the Maximals and Apache was set to collide with it. Thinking fast, Convoy zoomed forwards, opened fire, and caused an explosion that sent the both of them hurling away into the relatively safer depths of space. Convoy disappeared, but Apache made it back to the Maximal Space Station to report on what had happened. The New Forces Arrive! The reason behind Convoy's disappearance was that Convoy's reconnaissance ship had been closer to the explosion than Apache's and its controls had gotten damaged. Convoy was helpless to stop his craft from crashing in the North Continent of Gaia, but while the reconnaissance ship ended up trashed, it cushioned its pilot enough for Convoy to survive the impact.
