The "Maximal Gaia base" is the base the Lio Convoy Unit built to live in while they were stationed on Gaia. It is a big cuboid with a Maximal insignia on it. It was built nearby where they parked the Yukikaze and several facilities of the spaceship, such as a medical room (メディカルルーム) and a communication room (通信ルーム), were built anew in the Gaia base. Additionally, Apache has set up a vegetable garden outside to ensure a steady food supply. For transport, the unit uses at least one medium-sized spaceship and several Maximal Reconnaissance Ships, which are parked outside.

[edit]On a rainy day, the Maximals were lounging in one of the Gaia base's common rooms. Apache ordered everyone to go on patrol as scheduled, but with the exception of Diver no one felt like going outside with the weather like that. This led to a bit of a fight until Lio Convoy intervened on Apache's behalf. Demolish the Superdreadnought Tank! While the Maximals were resting in the medical room, Lio Convoy had a disturbing dream he woke up from right when his regular maintenance check has been completed. After that, he heard a voice calling him, so he took a Maximal Reconnaissance Ship and headed out to investigate the voice. The only one who saw him leave was Tasmania Kid, who also had woken up and who followed in secret. Much later, the other Maximals also woke up and were confused mostly where Lio Convoy was. Because they knew nothing and could therefore do nothing and because it was nighttime, Diver and Bighorn decided to entertain themselves with fireworks during the wait. Infiltrate the Mystery Island! As such, they were outside when Scuba, who had met up with Tasmania Kid, sent out a Surumerang Signal that everyone needed to come to the island immediately. Free the Captured Matrix!
After meeting Scylla and falling badly for her, Bighorn raced back to the Gaia base to find Scuba and get him to write a love letter on Bighorn's behalf. It worked out well enough that a wedding followed, news of which quickly spread around the base. Everyone got ready to attend the ceremony. Realize the Forbidden Love! The Lio Convoy Unit received news from the Insectrons about a new Predacon facility being built on a nearby island. They had a meeting about the findings and concluded that they had to attack soon because the facility was likely fueled by the Angolmois Energy in the soil and therefore had enough power to blow up the Maximal's base. With Lio Convoy off training, Apache had already sent a request to the Maximal Army Central Headquarters for another Convoy to come to their aid. It would take them three days to arrive, but just as Apache had relayed this information a spacecar crashed through the base's roof and Star Upper stepped out. He claimed to be the Convoy they were waiting for and took command, leading the Maximals on an air attack by shuttle on the Predacon facility. Make a Surprise Attack on the Super Weapon Base!
Apache was having a day to himself, which began with radio calisthenics outside the base. Thereafter, he tended his vegetable garden and picked some space daikons to make a meal out of. When he reached his personal room, he found the place utterly trashed and accused Tasmania Kid on grounds of his history of mean pranks. Hurt because he was innocent this time, Tasmania Kid ran out of the base moments before Lio Convoy came forward to admit he was the culprit. The previous night, he'd gotten intoxicated while drinking "Convoy Killer" oil and, although he didn't remember much, he knew he was behind the vandalism. Apache hurried to the communication room to contact Tasmania Kid to apologize and found that by then the young soldier had been captured by the Cyborg Beasts. He was given one hour to save him or they'd turn him into a creature like them. With that ultimatum, Apache calmly went to his secret armory hidden behind a fake wall and took everything he needed to dish out regret. Recover the Bonds Lost!
When Nemesis came to Gaia to take its Angolmois Energy, the Maximals took shelter from the chaos outside in their base. Bighorn brought along Risuko and Risue, two squirrels he had befriended and wanted to keep safe. They used the base's computers to learn that the Angolmois Energy was being collected at one central point and rapidly beyond capacity so. If it continued, it would mean another Big Bang. As the Maximals discussed how to deal with this threat, Optimus Primal appeared via holographic communication to pitch in his wisdom on the necessity and dangers of the mission ahead. Each Maximal signed up for their own reason: Lio Convoy for duty, Apache and Tasmania Kid for Lio Convoy, Bighorn for Risuko and Risue because they were dying along with Gaia, Diver for Bighorn, and Scuba because he'd read all his books. Thus decided, they went to the Yukikaze to reach Nemesis and never returned to the Gaia base. All Hands, Make a Special Attack on the Evil Planet!
