Fiction related to the Movie continuity can be split into two parallel sets of continuities. The "main" continuity is centred on the Transformers live-action movie & its sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and involves a number of novels, comics and video games. There is also at least one distinct splinter timeline branching from the events of the first movie, along with a number of micro-continuities which were probably intended to fall in with the movies themselves, but contradict either the movies or each other.
The other is the "Alternate Reality Game (ARG) continuity" which presents itself as representing the actual Movie universe events as they "really happened." Relatively little is known about these events. Most of what is known was revealed leaked to the public by the rogue Sector Seven agent X.
Main continuity
This continuity encompasses all fiction related to the live-action film series, outside of the exceptions listed below.
"Twilight's Last Gleaming"
Issues 9–25 of Titan Magazine's Transformers comic take place in a splinter timeline where Megatron won the battle of Mission City.
Notes
- The plots of various video games, online games, television commercials, board games, and card games associated with the Transformers movie franchise and the Revenge of the Fallen franchise are often different enough from established in-continuity events that it makes it more difficult to place firmly in the main-line continuity. When this is the case, these are more properly classified as micro-continuities.
ARG continuity
In this continuity, what is generally meant by the "Movie continuity" as being an elaborate mis-information campaign called Hungry Dragon 2 launched by the real Sector Seven to cover up the existence of Non-Biological Extraterrestrials on Earth.
