Kup, along with the rest of Remote Patrol Six, was scanning the Plait Expanse's radiation in an attempt to find a way to escape Cybertron. When Downshift was ordered to check out a strange signal that Sandstorm discovered, he was initially reluctant, but staring down the business end of Kup's blaster convinced him to change his mind and go.
