Combiner Factions

[edit]

I can't speak for whether the Nexus Prime folks count as Autobots and Decepticons in Transcendent or not. But on the Shattered Glass pages, I'm pretty sure "Autobots" and "Decepticons" is always intended to refer to the "Shattered Glass" version of the factions specifically. That's why Heatwave is in "Decepticons" (because he actually is an SG Decepticon), but the rest of his gestalt and G1 Cliffjumper are in "Others". --Jeysie 18:23, 5 November 2009 (EST)

I don't see the problem with putting Autobots in the Autobot column and Decepticons in the Deception column. 207.181.17.24 19:01, 5 November 2009 (EST)
I believe I just thoroughly explained the logic above. Please take the time to read it. --Jeysie 19:17, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Also, the header colors/orders are switched for "Shattered Glass" stories on purpose. Don't change them. --Jeysie 19:20, 5 November 2009 (EST)
In cases where SG Autobots appeared on Transtech Cybertron they were listed as Autobots. See Transcendent: Part 1 - So how is this different? I do see your point on colors though. 207.181.17.24 19:34, 5 November 2009 (EST)
AFAIK the only SG Autobot that ever appeared on TransTech Cybertron was SG Alpha Trion, and he was actually passing himself off as a normal Autobot at the time.
Autobots on different worlds are all different. It's just SG Autobots are more different than most. We don't list Unicron Trilogy Autobot apart from Transtech Autobot, apart from G2 Autobots do we? 207.181.17.24 20:07, 5 November 2009 (EST)
But in the SG stories, the Autobots and Decepticons are completely opposite from their normal counterparts. An Autobot in the normal world would almost certainly not be an Autobot in the SG verse, and likewise for Cons. Heck, even though Cliffjumper is technically a part of the SG Decepticons, he states out loud that he still considers himself an Autobot--just the "right" kind of Autobot. IMHO they're two different beasts.
Thus... like, I said, Heatwave actually is the SG variety of Decepticon, so he stays there. Everyone else... "Others" is pretty much our best place. The Shattered Glass universe is a weird place; it wouldn't be the only wiki convention we've bent for it.
If you want to take it up on a related talk page elsewhere, be my guest... maybe it'll turn out everyone disagrees with me. But until then, for the love of my sanity and the Recent Changes listing, stop changing around the pages. --Jeysie 19:48, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Since the list says "AUTOBOTS" and "DECEPTICONS", I don't see any problem listing the Autobots and Decepticon under them for now... but please, start a talk page talk about it. Perhaps the columns should say "SHATTERED GLASS AUTOBOTS" and "SHATTERED GLASS DECEPTICONS" then it would be correct your way? 207.181.17.24 19:50, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Well, no, because we assume our readers are intelligent enough to realize that if a story is in Shattered Glass continuity, maybe just maybe it's referring to Shattered Glass factions. And, since you're the one busy trying to change a page's current convention, it's your job to bring it up on a talk page. Otherwise, if you continue this reverting, I'm bringing it to an admin's attention. --Jeysie 19:53, 5 November 2009 (EST)
The columns are a bit ambiguous. If the headings were changed to "'Shattered Glass' Autobots" or "Autobots (SG)" or something, it would clear everything up and be more precise. - Starfield 19:57, 5 November 2009 (EST)
I agree, and I was doing just this, but it seems I somehow got blocked from editing them half way though. 207.181.17.24 19:58, 5 November 2009 (EST)
What Jeysie said. If your edits keep getting reverted, there's usually a good reason. In this case, it's because a convention is already in place. You may not agree with that convention, but it doesn't mean you should keep making the same edits over and over. --abates 20:01, 5 November 2009 (EST)
How do you explain that when Alpha Trion appears in a Transtech story he's listed as an Autobot then? Also, I tried changing the headers to Shattered Glass Autobots and THAT got reverted too and got me blocked from editing? I was trying to find a workable solution. 207.181.17.24 20:03, 5 November 2009 (EST)
It may be a good idea to change the column headings, but right now it is just an idea until it is discussed on a talk page. - Starfield 20:06, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Okay, I would like to place it on the talk page then. 207.181.17.24 20:07, 5 November 2009 (EST)
I already answered your question in a previous reply: "AFAIK the only SG Autobot that ever appeared on TransTech Cybertron was SG Alpha Trion, and he was actually passing himself off as a normal Autobot at the time."
And you're not blocked from editing altogether; those specific pages have just been set so only users can edit them, so you'll actually stop and discuss your proposed changes like you were asked to, rather than continuing to revert and change things. So you're free to bring it up yourself. Probably either the Reunification talk page or the Shattered Glass (franchise) talk page would be suitable spots. --Jeysie 20:10, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Okay, peace dude. I placed a talking point here Talk:Reunification: Part 1 I'll wait a couple days and wait to see if people reply to it. Feel free to make alternative suggestions in the mean time. Thanks! 207.181.17.24 20:12, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Now I just need to find out Jeysie is looking into me on message boards. 207.181.17.24 20:58, 5 November 2009 (EST)
...huh? --Jeysie 21:08, 5 November 2009 (EST)

Ah! Heh. That was a followup from this discussion after Blackout added the initial info to the SG Terrorcon pages way back when: User talk:-Blackout-/Archive Alpha#Terrorcon Descriptions --Jeysie 21:14, 5 November 2009 (EST)
I was wondering why people were talking about me. I'm wholely paranoid. I've had bad experiences with people posting crap about me on boards without me knowing. Thanks for the clairification. 207.181.17.24 21:22, 5 November 2009 (EST)
Ah. Nah, more like I'd been amused to see my own words getting used third-hand, so I was curious about tracing the chain backwards. If I'm going to talk crap about someone, I do it to their face. ;)
Seriously, though, I had some bad experiences of my own regards an IDW forum troll posting crap about me and other posters in other publically-readable places (and then throwing a hissy fit when I discovered it by chance and dared to (politely) tell her where she'd gotten things wrong), so I know the feeling. --Jeysie 21:29, 5 November 2009 (EST)
I think I got you beat. There is a user on the Allspark who started an offsite blog posting quotes from me, lampooning my posts and encouraging others to post about how stupid I am. When I told the Allspark mods, they said what happens on other boards is not their business. I just thought it was bad form. 68.61.240.172 22:32, 5 November 2009 (EST)
