Convoy Black Ver. is a the one underwater fighting the Constructicons, heck !
Synopsis
Optimus Prime narrates to the Autobots a sequence of accidents that sunk ships out at sea: Eight days ago, a transport ship from Carbombya was sunk by a mysterious unidentified object, and this was only one incident in a spate of maritime accidents in the last 47 days. At the accident site, a strange biomechanical creature was found which showed evidence of DNA alteration and nanotechnology. Five days later, another accident occurred, and another creature was seen. The Autobots tracked it to an underwater Decepticon base, which raised suspicion of Decepticon involvement in the accidents.
To investigate and attack, Splashdown and Diver are sent to transport a submarine containing "cargo" to the Decepticon base. The two Pretenders are mystified at the lack of activity or guards as they approach, but inside, they spot two Constructicons. The submarine opens to reveal Cliffjumper and a black Optimus Prime—the result of placing a human mind into an "OP type body". This first result uses the mind of Dann. [sic] This plan also takes advantage of the fear of Optimus Prime inherent in all Decepticons, a fear later proved when the two Constructicons remark how screwed they are that Optimus Prime would deign to attack their "tiny mining base". The black Optimus makes easy work of the Constructicons and enters a room with an opening to the outside sea. Suddenly, he is attacked!

Quotes
"Optimus? The boss oneself came to beat such tiny mining base, heck? No kidding this time! It's going to be more knotty!!"
- —Hook assesses his situation.
Notes
- The issue contains both Japanese and English text. However, the English translation is sloppy, sometimes to the point of incomprehensibility.
- The second Pretender (the one that's not Splashdown) is not identified by name and could conceivably be either the American character Waverider, or the Japanese Super-God Masterforce character Diver. As this comic is set in Japanese cartoon continuity, we're assuming the latter unless informed otherwise.
- The T.H.S. 02 comic takes place during the Japanese version of the Generation 2 storyline.
- This comic actually follows a storyline begun by Hirofumi Ichikawa via the tech spec bios packaged with several other e-Hobby exclusive toys.
- The story began in the Galvatron II bio, where a Galvatron from an alternate reality traveled to this timeline, intending to conquer the universe with his fleet of Warworlds.
- The story continued in the Laser Rod Ultra Magnus bio, in which Ultra Magnus used the Reconfiguration Matrix within the Matrix of Leadership to resurrect himself in a new body with which to counter Galvatron II.
- The story then continues into the "Hybrid Style Convoy Black Version" comic, where Optimus Prime dons a "Black Body" in order to save Ultra Magnus from the rampaging Galvatron II. This comic takes place shortly afterward.
