This article is about the Movie related character and toy. For the Dead Universe Transformer, see Grindcore (G1).
Grindcore is an Autobot from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family.

Grindcore loves noise. Back home on Cybertron, he loved the noise of everyone's alternate modes and the Shock Pop he enjoyed so much in his home city of Vos. Here on Earth, heavy metal seems to be his favorite. When he works on various construction projects, it is impossible to not hear him, as his alternate mode's motor runs loud.

Rock on, buddy. Rock on.

Many years ago, Grindcore was a member of Optimus's science division, working on excavation site LT34 near the temple of Simfur. He was present when the team excavated an ancient relic and for the subsequent argument between Optimus and Protector Megatron. Soon after, strange aliens from the Eshems Nebula attacked, reducing much of Metrotitan to rubble. Defiance issue 1 In the aftermath, he was present at a meeting called by Optimus, who explained Megatron's demand for compulsory military service and a new mission of war against all of Cybertron's enemies. Grindcore heeded Optimus' warning and kept out of Megatron's personal war. Defiance issue 2

As the situation worsened, Grindcore was in charge of the Burthov launch site, removing debris from the earlier battle. However, Optimus' followers were soon branded traitors and civil war erupted across Cybertron. Defiance issue 3 Grindcore joined Optimus Prime's Autobots and was one of those who elected to stay behind while the Autobot ship Ark pursued the AllSpark, which had been cast into space in a desperate attempt to buy the Autobots some time. Defiance issue 4

You suffer, but why?

Grindcore, along with Warpath, Signal Flare, and Elita-One, was captured during a raid and put to work by Stockade to construct Starscream's AllSpark replica at Simfur. While constructing it, Grindcore collapsed from exhaustion and was unsuccessfully defended from a pair of Payload drones by Warpath. Upon the AllSpark's completion, he was strapped to it, with the intention of draining his life-force to power the cube. The Reign of Starscream #4

Despite some last minute pleading from Elita-One, Starscream activated the new cube, killing Grindcore and the others, but the replica AllSpark failed to work as planned. The Reign of Starscream #5

Grindcore and the boys prepare for the next mosh pit.

Grindcore is a specialist who works under Camshaft, investigating and trying to stop Earth's AllSpark-caused death. With the team running low on magna-caps to stop raw energon seams from gushing, Grindcore was ordered to assist by burying the caps in rubble. Unfortunately, with the crisis escalating really fast, this tactic failed to work in Sylacauga... Return to Cybertron: Part 1

Grindcore and the team played a key role in saving Mikaela Banes; while Camshaft and Salvage rapidly assembled a jammer beacon, Grindcore (in a snazzy new yellow paintjob) used his vehicle mode to swat away Swindles. The Decepticon Who Haunted Himself

Toys

Transformers (2007)

Heavy Metal Constructicon
  • Grindcore (Deluxe Class, 2008)
    • Accessories: Launcher, missile, Autobot Cybertron-type Cyber Planet Key
A Wal-Mart exclusive, Grindcore is a redeco of Cybertron Landmine, transforming into a green wheeled front loader with a rear-mounted pile driver. His bucket shovel can be raised up and down, while his gimmick is unusual in that the Cyber Planet Key slot is in his rear wheels. To configure him into attack mode, one flips up the rear wheels (there are smaller wheels to support the rear end of the vehicle to compensate), inserts the Cyber Key into the wheel-hub slots and twists, deploying blades around the circumference of each tire.
This mold was also used to make BotCon 2006's Dawn of Future's Past Rhinox, and Grindcore's toy itself was later repurposed as "Shattered Glass" Scoop.
