| This article is about the evil clone of Rodimus Prime from Animated. For the evil clone of Hot Rod from Generation 1, see Dark Hot Rod. |
- Black Rodimus is a Decepticon from the Animated continuity family.
Seeking to create a clone army, Megatron used a fragment of the AllSpark and Starscream's cloning technology to create Black Rodimus, a dark duplicate of the Autobot Rodimus Prime.
Though Megatron probably changed his mind about making more than the single copy once Black Rodimus decided he should be the Decepticon leader.
Toys
Animated
- Black Rodimus (Deluxe, 2010)
- Accessories: "Energy Bow", 2 missiles
- Black Rodimus is a Hyper Hobby exclusive redeco of Animated Rodimus Minor that is painted mostly purple and black like that other guy, transforming into a futuristic car that is an homage to the vehicle mode of Generation 1 Hot Rod. A panel on the car's hood, which is also the figure's chest, can be flipped to either show an engine block or the figure's Decepticon insignia. The figure comes with an Energy Bow, capable of firing two missiles. His bow can be tabbed to the roof of his car mode or snapped on his hand. The tabs that secure his bow in vehicle mode are 5mm wide, making it usable by other figures as well.
- Ordering information was released in the December 2010 issue of Hyper Hobby (published in early November), and the ordering window was closed after December 31. Black Rodimus shipped in April of 2011.
