I don't give a crap about the stupid acroynm debate, but a "dingus" is not a stupid person. It's a thingamabob or a whatsit or a doohickey. That's the joke. The name of that one thing they're talking about is a word that means "that one thing". -[[Special:Contributions/70.62.10.14|70.62.10.14]] 13:10, 26 January 2012 (EST) | |||

"Dingus" redirect
How do you get "Dingus" from the acronym? "Dings" feels more plausible, than "Dingus"... --Lonegamer78 18:39, 5 March 2011 (EST)
- I take it you've yet to see the episode or read the synopsis. Fowler pronounces the acronym "Dingus".--Apcog 18:40, 5 March 2011 (EST)
- ........I have SO got to catch up on my caffeine intake. TOTAL FAIL. :B --Lonegamer78 18:49, 5 March 2011 (EST)
- Shouldn't the acronym be spelled DyNGeS or something? Like CHiPs? - Starfield 22:03, 5 March 2011 (EST)
- D.N.G.S. is from the subtitles, I believe! --abates 22:32, 5 March 2011 (EST)
- DYNGES makes sense to me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 199.185.88.147 (talk • contribs).
- I thought DYNGES was what Cheer detergent was supposed to get rid of. --Khajidha 13:27, 8 March 2011 (EST)

Acronym
How about DYNGES? DYnamic Nuclear GEneration System? That fits the bill. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 199.185.88.147 (talk • contribs).
- The captions spell the acronym "D.N.G.S.". We don't make up stuff when we have official terms. --abates 14:28, 8 March 2011 (EST)
- How do you know that the captions are right? Or what if that was the captioning firm's idea? --199.185.88.147 16:27, 8 March 2011 (EST)
- The captioning firm is as official as anything else. They work for Hasbro's The Hub channel. - Starfield 17:12, 8 March 2011 (EST)
- And even if there's a faint chance that the spelling in the captions doesn't match the script, that doesn't mean we should immediately switch to a spelling a random user made up. --abates 18:01, 8 March 2011 (EST)
- Captioning companies work off scripts, unless there's a rush or it's a live event. It's evident in this episode when they refer to Vehicons as "Eradicons" and get the capitalization of MECH correct. —Interrobang 18:25, 8 March 2011 (EST)
- Now we are taking the way Raf spells it in his notes to be official over the captions. Are we sure Raf knows the official acronym? - Starfield 16:29, 25 January 2012 (EST)
- Are you actually going to argue this? —Interrobang 16:33, 25 January 2012 (EST)
- Argue what? That a twelve-year-old's not-diary might contain his own interpretation on how to spell the word he heard Agent Fowler speaking about? No, I won't argue about it. I'll just point out that there are two sources on how to spell D.N.G.S. The captions and an unreliable narrator. - Starfield 16:53, 25 January 2012 (EST)
- We don't decide characters are unreliable narrators at our whim. That's not generally how it works. --ItsWalky 11:50, 26 January 2012 (EST)
- Raf seems smarter than the captioning company. Go with him but note their spelling in trivia. -Derik 00:01, 26 January 2012 (EST)
- Chugway! --Andrusi 10:56, 26 January 2012 (EST)
- I'm with Starfield on this one. Its actual abbreviation is "D.N.G.S." and it is pronounced "dingus". The article should start "The Dynamic Nuclear Generation System (D.N.G.S., pronounced Dingus)". Ignoring the form used in the captions is being purposefully obtuse.--Khajidha 11:35, 26 January 2012 (EST)
