Intro

It's not explicitly spelled out, but the standard has always been to talk about characters as though they're alive in their intros. G1wise, this is because characters may be dead or not at any given time in any given version of G1 continuity, but it should be extended to others for consistency. There are a few exceptions (Sentinel Prime's intro says he "was Optimus Prime's predecessor", but a) there's nothing else to say about him cross-franchise and b) "is Prime's predecessor" is a little odd) but even guys who first appeared as corpses (Hardcase, Playback) or who died immediately in their only appearances (Padlock, Fusion) subscribe to this. Commandos

I really, really can't write off the fact that the four limbs have the same colour schemes as the four Commando limbs as some kind of coincidence, here. Xaaron's yellow, not orange - Ruination was orange. The Commandos homage is the only reason for there to be that much orange slathered across all these figures, instead of colouring them in the actual colours of the characters they're supposed to be. - Chris McFeely 21:16, 14 July 2012 (EDT)

Ruination had a good amount of orange on him. Nowhere near as much as Ruination does thanks to Impactor, but each Combiner limb had its fair share of orange in its robot bits. --Detour 22:16, 14 July 2012 (EDT)

It's not as though the Wreckers aren't also in their own normal colors, plus a bunch of orange. I doubt very much that it's an intentional homage to someone the set isn't supposed to be and largely isn't decoed as, personally. Every Ruination component except for Armorhide had a good chunk of orange on them. I agree that Impactor isn't homaging Mega Octane, but if they were colouring the toys so with the intention of having the combined mode evoke Xaaron, then why not colour Impactor his normal yellow (and use yellow as the unifying colour on the other limbs) since Xaaron is yellow, not orange? You don't think it's deliberate that the four limbs of a Bruticus repaint called Ruination share a colour scheme with the OTHER Bruticus repaint called Ruination, at the expense of more accurate colour schemes for the characters they're supposed to be? Even if we're trying to say this is just a coincidence - which I don't really believe, but it could be, and if it's proven it is - if it IS, I'd argue it STILL warrants mention on the page, for how immense a coincidence it would have to be. - Chris McFeely 06:06, 15 July 2012 (EDT)

I agree with Chris. Impactor is an obvious exception, but the four limbs are pretty oddly RID Ruination colors for no discernible reason other than being RID Ruination colors. Whirl is a dark blue copter with orange robot parts why? --ItsWalky 10:44, 15 July 2012 (EDT)

I think this is obviously a lost battle, but I guess all I can say is a) I never thought of Ruination as having a lot of orange, b) I never once thought of the RID guy when I saw this, and c) it strikes me as pretty weird that they'd do such a half-assed job "homaging" the RID colors by not using Mega-Octane's at all, not using any red on Whirl, not using light blue or any brown on Twin Twist, not using any black and hardly any orange on Topspin, not using any of the mustard-gold that makes up all of RID Ruination's kibble and most of his combined color, et cetera et cetera. To me, this is like the Retail Bruticus Is Energon Colors thing; because we get a lot of homages, the fandom tends to interpret everything as an homage. I'm in complete agreement with LV here. Especially taking into account that these could conceivably be on shelves around the same time as the original Bruticus members, it's not hard to see why, for example, Roadbuster is more green than orange/tan (you know, that yellow Swindle). --M Sipher 13:26, 15 July 2012 (EDT)
