* Interestingly, although he is a helicopter vehicle, Vortex instantly converts into a jet-like vehicle when using his Boost, unlike other arial transformers, who only alter the angle of their wings/fins in vehicle mode when using Boost.

The name or term "Vortex" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Vortex (disambiguation).
Vortex is a Decepticon from the Aligned continuity family.

Vortex isn't much of a fighter. Instead, what Autobots fear is being caught in his magnetic grapples. Once they are in his clutches, Vortex will execute a series of terrifying maneuvers that leave his victims scared oilless, shortly before dropping them to the planet surface, shellshocked, to their deaths. Along with the other Combaticons, he can form Bruticus.

Games

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)

At one point, Vortex encountered a large structure resembling a climbing frame that he must climb to the top of, fighting Autobot enemies along the way. [1]

Fall of Cybertron

Stats

Vortex is armed in his vehicle mode with two machine guns and a single-shot thermo rocket launcher. The machine guns need to be spun up before firing at top speed, and the bullets travel slower than other weapons. His default weapon is a Neutron assault rifle. Vortex's ability is shockwave, which deals damage to and pushes away nearby enemies.

Toys

Generations

  • Decepticon Bruticus (multi-pack, 2012)
    • Accessories: 2 swords
This San Diego Comic-Con 2012 exclusive pack contains all five Combaticons in game-accurate colors.
This toy was "redecoed" into its own mass-release deco, below, as well as into a Generation 2-styled Vortex. It was later retooled into Whirl.

  • Vortex (Deluxe, 2012)
    • Accessories: 2 swords
Vortex transforms from a red Cybertronic attack helicopter into a robot. He can also combine with his fellow Combaticon warriors to form any limb of Bruticus, though his default position is as the left arm. In arm mode, his hand features a thumb which can fold over to either side of the palm so that it can be used as either a left or right arm. His two swords can plug into either side of his copter mode, be wielded as either swords or rifles in robot mode, or combine with the weapons of the other Combaticons to form the Sonic Cannon.

Notes

  • Vortex's body parts are available to Scientist-class characters in Fall of Cybertron multiplayer, identified as Vanguard-type components. Because of his unique vehicle mode, there are no Vanguard-type wings.

Foregin Notes
