Hey, kids! Help Hasbro decide on the next Speed-Bot redeco!

Speed-Bot is the fastest of all the Go-Bots, and can take on a wide variety of speedy vehicle forms. His incredible speed is both his greatest strength and his greatest weakness, as this young 'Bot has a tendency to jump into action before completely thinking things through.

They chose the most-often-toy-released in Speed-Bot.

Speed-Bot was chosen by the High Council as "the fastest" of the available Go-Bots to join the Earth's Go-Bot Team on their mission to help Earth. After Silver-Bot came to Earth as well and began causing chaos near a tropical island, Aero-Bot selected Speed-Bot and Strong-Bot to help rein in the newbie. Speed-Bot busied himself towing no less than five buses full of people from a stricken cruise ship along the sea-side. He was brought to a halt by trees inadvertently by Silver-Bot, and came under further threat when the trees caught alight. Aero-Bot rescued Speed-Bot by putting out the fire and clearing the obstruction. Speed-Bot successfully reached a cave Strong-Bot had made, and dropped off the humans before helping Aero-Bot stall a tornado and bring Silver-Bot under control. Typhoon Twister

Another Go-Bot rookie, Mototron, whom Speed-Bot recognised from training courses back on Botropolis, appeared on Earth and broke an oil pipeline. Beast-Bot and Speed-Bot were selected to accompany Aero-Bot to the frozen north to help clean up the mess. The pair began gathering the fallen pipes, however they soon discovered that Kid-Bot and Gas-Bot had stowed away in Speed-Bot's trunk. After Mototron unsuccessfully challenged Speed-Bot to a race, the two youngsters followed the renegade into an abandoned mine, and Speed-Bot was forced to follow them in. After rescuing them from a cave-in, he escaped the collapsing mine and had to pull Mototron out of the rubble with his tow line. Arctic Oil Spill

When Reptron raised a ruckus, Speed-Bot and Strong-Bot coordinated the field operation from the Go-Pod. Reptron's Rampage

Speed-Bot and the rest of the Protectors were awarded the Go-Shield for their sterling work, but a short time later were informed that Racer-Bot ALPHA and Racer-Bot BETA, test subjects for Go-Brillium, had gone rogue and were headed for Earth. Aero-Bot and Speed-Bot were joined by Hauler-Bot, who infused them both with Go-Brillium for the mission. Speed-Bot was soon making use of his new powers to lead racers in the Rattlesnake 500 Desert Road Rally to safety. After the trio managed to save the Racer-Bot twins from plummeting to their doom, the two rookies agreed to return to Botropolis to resume their training. Racer-Bot Road Rally

Toys

Playskool Big Adventures

  • Speedbot (Basic Go-Bot, 2002)
A cutesy red sportscar with a very simplistic transformation. Rotating the waist causes the door-arms to ppop out and the hood to flip down, revealing the robot head.
Who knew this mold would lend itself to so many redecos and retools? (There are 16.)
This toy was released in Japan without changes as Ted.

If they'd kept on numbering them, kids sure woulda learned the hell out of their Roman numerals.
  • Speed-Bot II (Deluxe Go-Bot, 2003)
The first Formula-1 Go-Bot toy. Though it was released alongside the blue-and-white Mirage-Bot, the mold is obviously intended to be Speed-Bot. He came with Kid-Bot and Gas-Bot figures.
This toy was released without changes in Japan as Paul Jr. This mold was also used to make Aero-Bot Racer and Fast-Bot.

  • Speed-Bot (Ultra Go-Bot, 2003)
This rather large Racer-Bot toy transforms into a dragster. His back end has a spring-loaded drag chute.

  • Speed-Bot (Video Go-Bot, 2003)
This slight redeco of the original Speedbot toy came with a video cassette of the first 2 episodes of the Go-Bots cartoon.

  • Speed-Bot (Racer, 2003)
The second Deluxe mold. One of the most poseable of the Go-Bots toys. He came with a new driver figure and a gas pump figure.
This mold was also used to make Mototron (Racer).

  • Speed-Bot (Secret Shield, 2004)
The first new Basic mold for Speed-Bot, released with the "Secret Shield" assortment.

  • Speed-Bot (Toys R Us, 2004)
A ToysЯUs-exclusive toy in chrome red (described as a special "Go-Brillium finish"), alongside a chromed Aero-Bot. This was actually recolored from the modified "Invisibility Force" mold that didn't see release until the next year.

  • Speed-Bot (Basic Go-Bot, 2005)
This red "muscle car" was recolored from the at-the-time-unreleased Racer-Bot ALPHA toy.

  • Speed-Bot (Invisibility Force, 2005)
Made with clear red plastic, this is one of the "Invisibility Force" toys that was intended for release in 2004, but was held back until after the line was cancelled in 2005. This toy was actually slightly retooled from the original Speedbot toy, with different spoiler/feet pieces.

  • Speed-Bot (Racer, 2005)
Another new Deluxe mold, this was also slated for a 2004 release, but ended up never being released in the US. It did, however, make it out in the UK in 2005. He came with a new driver figure and gas pump figure.
