- D-Void is a cosmic force from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

The D-Void is a mysterious dark entity that resides within the shadows of the Dead Universe and is the personification of it. A mass of eyes and black tentacles, this creature seeks to devour the life of entire worlds in order to satiate its hunger, but is unable to leave the Dead Universe without outside help. It is described as being an unbelievably powerful being with the capacity to return the spark to a deceased Transformer, control the minds of robotic beings and drain energy from Cybertronians to feed on them.

IDW Generation 1 continuity
D-Void was responsible for creating a trans-dimensional portal from the Dead Universe into the main reality, which manifested initially as a lake on the world of Gorlam Prime. Once it formed, D-Void used a lure that drew the cybernetic inhabitants of Gorlam Prime into the pool, where it devoured the entirety of the planetary robotic population's sparks of life in order to awaken it. Following that moment, the lake transformed into a sphere that served as a portal directly to the creature's realm as it began its plan to enter into the normal universe. Galvatron, after being empowered by the Heart of Darkness, journeyed through the portal, where his unique energy caused D-Void to hunger for his spark. This caused a shaken Galvatron to flee back to the Gorlam Prime portal, where he decided to rally an army of Autobots and Decepticons to fight the emerging threat of D-Void, as it now intended to feast on Cybertron. Heart of Darkness #2 Unknown to Galvatron, the Heart of Darkness and D-Void were in fact one and the same with the entity using it as a means of getting purchase to the normal universe. Its intentions towards Cybertron was because the Transformer homeworld was dead and through the oblivious Galvatron it began to turn the whole planet into a giant portal between the Dead Universe and the normal one. From this planet-sized portal, D-Void would enter into the universe where it would fuse with everything and kill all life. Genesis

D-Void later returned Nemesis Prime's spark to his body, remaking him with the intent of sending him back as his vessel to reclaim the Heart of Darkness from Galvatron. Nemesis was ejected from a portal on Dykayra, where he took down Galvatron's makeshift army by draining their energy with a shockwave technique. Declaring that the universe would be his prey, he attacked Galvatron himself, but was driven back to the portal. Nemesis/D-Void believed that Galvatron intended to use the portal to empower himself, but Galvatron smugly revealed that he was only distracting Nemesis while his full army arrived with the strength to throw D-Void back into the Dead Universe. After the portal was destroyed, Galvatron quieted Cyclonus's claims of victory by explaining that Nemesis was only D-Void's harbinger. To prepare for D-Void's return, Galvatron attempted to recruit Optimus Prime to his side, but was rebuffed, and instead decided to make his first line of defense at Cybertron, where he knew D-Void would strike first. Heart of Darkness #4

Both Hardhead and Arcee revealed the truth about D-Void's intentions and that it planned to trick Galvatron into bringing the Heart of Darkness inside Cybertron. Galvatron was under the mistaken belief that the Heart of Darkness would help destroy Cybertron thus preventing the Expansion of the Dead Universe to the normal one. However, in actuality, the fact that Cybertron was a dead world would give it a true foothold in the "live" universe. Thus, he thought he was saving the universe when in fact he was aiding in its destruction. Genesis When the Autobots interfered, D-Void reached out through the Heart of Darkness and took control of Galvatron's army along with the Decepticons present, who were for some reason most susceptible to its mind control. It combined the soldiers into a massive creature and attacked the Autobots, presumably to prevent them from stopping Galvatron. Kings The Decepticons were combined in part due to their unity of purpose under Megatron's totalitarian control. Shockpoint When Megatron resisted D-Void's control and destroyed the Deceptigod, Galvatron felt its injury through the Heart of Darkness. Optimus Prime moved after Galvatron as he headed towards Vector Sigma with the aim in throwing the Heart of Darkness into the primal wellspring, but arrived too late to stop him from turning Vector Sigma into a portal through which D-Void began to emerge. D-Void was ultimately stopped when Optimus Prime dove into Vector Sigma and used the Matrix of Leadership to defeat it. Genesis
Notes
- D-Void is referred to as simply "D-Void" in Heart of Darkness, but "the D-Void" in Chaos.
- Since the Darkness is an aspect of D-Void, the entity was likely also responsible for manipulating Nemesis Prime behind the scenes during the Expansion.
