Should the need to use this powerful arsenal ever arise, Crosshairs is a stickler when it comes to how all this weaponry should be used. He demands that every single unit of ammunition be monitored, dislikes it whenever a shot, blast, or discharge goes to waste, and is quite slow when it comes to combat. As a result of this, however, he's an extremely skilled and precise marksman, and is capable of fighting the fight longer due to his very conservative ammo consumption.

However, his recent stint as a paratrooper seems to be ebbing away his overcautious streak.  These days, he's a quick shot, who hits the ground running and makes mincemeat out of Decepticons before they even know what hit them. Crosshairs has also proven to be a bit of a jerk, and is always more concerned about what's in it for him than anything else.  He's even has shown a desire for command during his stint on Earth.  Though he may give you hell for it, Crosshairs will still have your back in the end.

Crosshairs arrived on Earth sometime after the Decepticon invasion of Chicago, and assisted Bumblebee and Optimus Prime on a mission to track and eliminate three Decepticon survivors in Indonesia. The Decepticons retreated but Crosshairs had placed a tracking device (which doubled as a bomb) on their boss, and tracked them to Pulua Bidadari. He requested permission to go alone, claiming a sneak attack by one bot would catch the enemy off guard; in large part, this was done to show off his skills as Crosshairs felt humans couldn’t be trusted anymore and it was just up to Autobots.
On Pulua Bidadari, he swiftly took out all three of his charges (secretly under the watchful eye of Bumblebee), making sure to mock the Decepticon he’d planted the bomb on before it went off. Optimus felt that Crosshairs was more than combat ready but that they had missed something. Crosshairs (incorrectly) reassured him otherwise. Transformers Comic issue 5.2

Crosshairs was among the Autobots who went into hiding on Earth when Harold Attinger's Cemetary Wind began hunting down the Autobots. Crosshairs had joined up with Drift, Hound, and Bumblebee, and the group remained hidden until Optimus Prime returned to them. Crosshairs expressed joy and faith when their leader returned, saying he always believed he would. Crosshairs, along with Hound, immediately tried to kill Cade Yeager, Tessa Yeager, and Shane Dyson, but Optimus restrained him, explaining their part in helping protect him from Attinger. That night, Crosshairs made known his desire to be alone when Drift and Bumblebee started fighting, but fell in under Optimus as the gravity of their situation began to sink in.  Crosshairs learned of Leadfoot's fate, and joined in the plan for Cade and Shane to infiltrate KSI.

However, when Cade discovered Ratchet's deactivated head being melted down, Optimus furiously rallied the Autobots into action. Crosshairs gleefully joined in the shooting up of KSI, and was prepared to kill Joshua Joyce, but after a demoralizing speech from the human, Optimus ordered a retreat. The Autobots took to the road with their human allies, and were pursued by Galvatron and Stinger. Crosshairs was absent for the ensuing battle against Galvatron, but Optimus and Tessa were captured by Lockdown. The group made for Chicago, where they snuck aboard Lockdown's vessel. Crosshairs initially refused to take part in the rescue mission, asking what was in it for him, but after some aggressive negotiation with Hound, joined in the mission. Crosshairs helped sabotage some of the ship, causing the anchors to release, which the humans used to escape after rescuing Tessa. He warned Hound against messing with alien creatures on the ship, to no avail. They soon found the captured Optimus, who instructed them to detach the part of Lockdown's vessel they were on for their own personal use. Crosshairs commandeered an Orbital Assault Carrier, using it to pick up Bumblebee and the Humans. He flew it through the skies of Chicago, fleeing Lockdown's minions until deciding to enter the fray personally, but not before instructing Cade and Shane on how to use the OAC's weaponry. Crosshairs took on many of Lockdown's henchmen upon para-trooping into the skies, and later exited the battle and regrouped with the others.
Crosshairs was all too happy to leave Earth when Optimus decided they would leave permanently. He remained aboard the ship stolen from Lockdown with Drift and Optimus, but unfortunately their ride off-planet was shot down. Crashing in a nearby valley, Crosshairs decided he'd had enough of being the "underdog" and said the humans deserved what was coming for them before asking Optimus what their next move would be. Crosshairs was both astonished and annoyed that Optimus recruited the aid of the Dinobots, and retreated to the sidelines while Optimus beat some authority into Grimlock. Upon seeing Grimlock's massive dinosaur mode, he backed away in fear. The Dinobots joined up with the Autobots once Optimus "coerced" Grimlock, and Crosshairs mounted Scorn, though not without a few more grumbles about Optimus' exceptional motivational skills. Crosshairs took on many of the KSI Transformers with Scorn, and they later helped escort the Seed to safety. Lockdown's intervention threw things astray, but the battle saw the Autobots victorious. Crosshairs bid farewell to Scorn after an Autobot victory was secured, dubbing him "Spike", and was assigned to help guard the Yeager family when Optimus departed into space on his own.

:Crosshairs turns into a licensed 2014 Chevorolet C7 Corvette Stingray. To replicate the duster coat he wears in the movie, his transformation involves much of the sides and roof of the vehicle mode folding up and wrapping around him, making him into a fairly egregious shellformer. But it looks awesome, so it matters not.
:He comes with what his packaging refers to as as "sidearm blasters"; they are actually based on sticky-bombs featured in concept art for the character, but they can also be held as pistols and are depicted as such in all stock photography. He also comes with a single silenced submachine gun based on the pair he wielded in the movie proper, and he features storage for the blasters and SMG in his coattails and calves, respectively.
:Because his duster increases his footprint by splaying out in all directions, Crosshairs is usually mistransformed both in-package and in stock photos so he can actually fit. In actual fact, his tailgate can fold down behind his head so that it's much less conspicuous and doesn't interfere with his light-piping gimmick, and two rubber flaps concealed under the vehicle mode windshield fold out and connect to his torso beneath a pair of sculpted lapels, completing the duster as opposed to simply leaving Crosshairs as a robot trapped beneath the top half of a Corvette.

The name or term "Crosshairs" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Crosshairs (disambiguation).
Crosshairs is an Autobot from the 2007 movie franchise in the live-action film continuity family.
You call THAT a knife? THIS is a knife!

Some might call Autobot armorer and weapons master Crosshairs overcautious, while others might call him a huge pain in the skidplate, but Crosshairs knows that he controls a vast armory that could be incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands. Thus, he sees it as his duty to protect it with his impenetrable filing system and his incessant demands for request forms - in triplicate.

He is sometimes partnered with Sergeant Cahnay.

IDW Transformers Movie comics

Many years ago, Crosshairs was a member of Optimus's Science Division during the reign of Protector Megatron. This peaceful existence ended when a mysterious relic was discovered outside the temple of Simfur, and Megatron changed the military's mission of defending Cybertron to open conquest. He listened to Optimus's pleas for them to ignore Megatron's demand and stay out of the fighting. Defiance issue 2

When the civil war broke out, Crosshairs, like many scientists, joined Optimus Prime's new faction, the Autobots. He watched from a distance as the Decepticons launched the Nemesis, and participated in a mission to bring Sentinel Prime's "torch" invention to the Simfur Temple. Foundation #3 At one point during the war, he fought against Thundercracker. He was present when Optimus Prime revealed his plan to capture the AllSpark, and due to the lack of space on the Ark, some Autobots would have to stay behind. Crosshairs was among those who volunteered to stay. Defiance issue 4

Let's do this thang.

Crosshairs was getting ready for a raid on the temple at Simfur when Clocker returned with an unexpected guest: Arcee. Crosshairs explained the Autobots' situation to her, then invited her along for the attack. The Reign of Starscream #4

He entered the frame ax-first. That's pretty awesome.

When Dreadwing's forces betrayed Starscream at Simfur, Crosshairs, Clocker, Armorhide and Arcee created havoc by destroying the replica AllSpark cube and fighting the rebel Decepticon forces. He decapitated Ramjet when the Decepticon had pinned down Armorhide and was about to deliver the killing stroke. He managed to escape with the other Autobots when Dreadwing's starship came crashing down to Trypticon, destroying the once-magnificent Decepticon city. The Reign of Starscream #5

Cross his hairs and hope to die (quickly).
  • Crosshairs (Scout, 2008)
    • Accessories: Crane boom/rifle, spare tire halves, Autobot-type energon star
Crosshairs is part of the "AllSpark Power" series of Target-exclusive Scout Class toys, the fourth wave of Target-exclusive Scouts. He is a redeco of the Energon series Strongarm toy, transforming into a Cybertronic jeep. He has a clear-plastic "energon" crane-boom/rifle and spare tire which can combine to form a large axe. His molded Autobot faction symbol is unpainted, while he has a Sector Seven symbol just below.
This mold was also used to make the BotCon 2005-exclusive Fallback, and fellow live-action movie-verse exclusive Strongarm. The axe mold was separated and used for multiple Takara promotional energon weapons, as well as being released in reddish-orange with the Japanese "Wild" redeco of Energon Ironhide.

Dark of the Moon

  • Sergeant Cahnay / Crosshairs (Human Alliance Basic, 2011)
    • Japanese ID number:
    • Accessories: Rifle, two c joint double-barreled blasters
Part of the fourth wave of Dark of the Moon Human Alliance Triple Changer figures, Crosshairs is a green redeco of Thunderhead and has two different alternate modes. In spider-tank mode, he has a large turret up top with a seat for any Human Alliance figure to sit at behind the main gun. In "mech" mode, he becomes a bipedal suit of armor for the human figure to fit into. His turret cannon can be detached and used as a hand-held rifle, and he has two small double-barreled blasters that can be mounted on his numerous c joint weapon-mounting bars, including two on the rifle itself. He comes with Sergeant Cahnay, a redeco of Sergeant Chaos.
Similarly to Thunderhead, Crosshairs's instructions give a different configuration for his robot mode feet than is depicted in his stock photography. His toes fold down farther to form a trigram foot, complete with a flat section on his tip toes for him to stand on. There is also more of a fixed seat for the human figure in mech mode, as opposed to him just dangling from the cockpit as shown in the stock photo.

Notes

  • Crosshairs is the Autobots' armorer, who is said to go about his job very meticulously and doesn't like wasting ammo, just like his Generation 1 namesake. Except, y'know, with more giant axes and Triple Changing.
