Passed down through countless generations of Primus Vanguard leaders, the Matrix Sword eventually made its way to Brightes, and from him to Blue Big Convoy.Cybertron Magna ConvoyGod Neptune comic 1

Faced with semi-corporeal enemies unaffected by his attacks, Straxus, chief engineer of the Primus Vanguard, concluded that only the power of a Matrix could defeat them. This proved true when Blue arrived and effortlessly cut them down with his Matrix Sword, joking that Straxus's usual pompous attitude was nowhere to be found before, to Straxus's shock, lending him the sword. Blue showboated a bit and then vaporized the Specters with the Blue Pèlerinage, a mighty α Matrix-empowered blast from his cannon. The fighting done, he combined the α Matrix and Matrix Sword into a beacon to summon the rest of the Vanguard.Blue Big Convoy comic

Later on the Blue Planet, Blue Big Convoy saved the time lost Optimus Prime from the blast of his fellow traveler Ultra Megatron's blast with a well timed block from the Matrix Sword.Super Megatron comic 3

Not long thereafter, the Blue Order was torn asunder, its members driven to attack each other by the program secretly implanted into them by one of the group's Straxuses. Blue realized the betrayal, and the other Straxus—Director Straxus—mocked him and ranted that the previous commander, Brightes, shouldn't have passed him over for Supreme Commander in favor of Blue. Refusing to harm his comrades, Blue fell on his own Matrix Sword. Straxus liberated the blade from his former leader's body and offered his fealty to the freshly upgraded Megatron Omega in order to bring about the destruction of the Primus and the other Orders.God Neptune comic 1

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Having gathered five of the Primus Vanguard's Matrices in the subsequent commotion, God Neptune set out to use their power to seize the Purple Matrix and the Silver Matrix (carrying with it the blue Star Power of the α Matrix, also pilfered from Blue) from the now allied Megatron Omega and Purple Wicked Convoy. Straxus attempted a swipe with the Matrix Sword to defend his new liege, but was disarmed by God Neptune with the Matrix Saber. The Matrix Sword wasn't without surprises, however, and Blue's spirit emerged, revealing that he put a portion of his spark into the sword when he committed suicide. Blue linked to the Matrix Buster to give God Neptune a good blast. God Neptune comic 3

Much later, Magna Convoy, last lone survivor of the Blue Order, stood before the statues of his predecessors at the Ivory Towers and reflected on how the sight of the Matrix Sword once used to fill him with pride and courage. He did not understand why he was chosen to succeed them, but for now, the only thing that mattered was retrieving the sword. He mounted a one man assault on Straxus's fortress Darkmount with vengeful fury, making Wingstun's day even worse (he already had had to deal with two experiments escaping!) before using his shield to penetrate the fortress. Within, he came face to face with Straxus, who mocked the sight of the blue corps emblem on the shield.

Magna Convoy recalled how Straxus betrayed and slaughtered the Blue Order and stole the Matrix Sword: that was the moment when his emotion program activated... and the first emotion he felt was rage. He swore to kill the traitor and unleashed an indiscriminate barrage on the entire area by attaching his guns to a spinning shield lob, an attack Straxus found naive until he noted Magna using the bodies of Wingstun and Air Hunter to shield himself. Amused by this dirty trick, Straxus noted that Magna had abandoned the noble philosophy of the Blue Order, something Magna didn't deny. Their battle collapsed the floor and flung them into the lab holding the Matrix Sword is held, though Straxus warned Magna that the weapon is of no use anymore. Believing the sword unbreakable, Magna seized it and swung at Straxus, only for the blade to shatter!

A second Straxus, whose disembodied head was held in a machine as a result of his experiments' escape, mocked Magna Convoy for wielding a dead man's weapon for revenge and referred to him as "MC11". Straxus and Rollermaster swiftly defeated him, but before they could finish him off, the remains of the Matrix Sword glowed and Magna was teleported away by a glowing starship. Magna Convoy's savior revealed himself to be the spectral form of Blue Big Convoy, his spark having remained in the Matrix Sword. Before he faded away, his power exhausted, he told Magna of a young Transformer cloned from his spark energy by Straxus. His final command to Magna—his "blue order"—was to guide this developing warrior on his journey. Magna Convoy then passes out, but was soon awoken by the very warrior his commander spoke of—Convobat.Cybertron Magna Convoy prequel comic

Magna Convoy told Convobat of the Primus Vanguard, of the Matrix Sword, and of Straxus's betrayal. Seeing as Convobat was a clone of their final leader, Magna Convoy passed the remains of the sword to him, though the diminutive bot was reluctant to accept such a treasured object. When the two prepared to recover Convobat's transtector, they found their ship under attack from Straxus's Rollermaster Corps, and Magna Convoy headed out to fight them while urging Convobat to flee with the ship.

Confronted by Straxus himself, Magna Convoy held his ground and declared that while he had previously lost everything and had nothing to fight for, he now saw the light of hope in Convobat and was determined to protect him. Straxus was unimpressed and destroyed Magna's hand, but his ensuing barrage of missiles is blocked by Convobat who swooped in on a shield vehicle and returned the Matrix Sword to Magna Convoy. While keeping the Rollermaster Corps busy, Convobat told Magna Convoy that he was the one entrusted with the sword, though Magna just wanted to know why he didn't escape when he had the chance. Convobat explained that Magna Convoy's stubbornness reminded him of his least favorite aspect of a friend, and he felt compelled to confront that stubbornness rather than oblige it.

The return of the Matrix Sword didn't worry Straxus, who mocked Magna Convoy's similarity to his late leader and told him that even if they are granted power, lifeforms like him didn't have the ambition to use it and must be led by someone like Straxus. He fired a powerful blast, but to his shock Magna Convoy, who had accepted that he was entrusted the Matrix Sword for a reason and was now able to protect himself upon its powerful light. The blade regenerated along with his hand and he unleashed its full power on Straxus.Cybertron Magna Convoy

That Nemesis sword getting into the Vanguard is clearly nepotism at work
A redeco of the sword included with Titans Return Alpha Trion, the Matrix Sword is included with Legends Magna Convoy.
This mold was also used to make Leo Prime's Ancient Sword, as well as the Ancient Sword of the Black Order's own Siege Nemesis Prime.
