Renegade
- The Renegades are a faction from the GoBots continuity family.
A terrorist organization on the then-organic world of Gobotron, the Renegades thwarted the peacekeeping efforts of the Guardians, the primary law enforcement on the planet. Under the machinations of the Master Renegade, these insurgent cells eventually committed the act of sabotage that resulted in a meteor rendering Gobotron uninhabitable to organic life.
Long after the population had been converted into cyborg chassis called Gobots to protect their organic brains, and after the original conflict and organic origins of Gobotron had passed into myth, the Guardian Cy-Kill would seek to rule Gobotron. Defecting from the Guardians to lead a reconstituted force of Renegades, war swept over the world once again.

According to Cy-Kill, the Renegades were founded in ancient times by a GoBeing called Master Renegade, who sought to overthrow the tyrannical Guardian regime. The war that followed shattered Gobotron when the spiteful Guardians arranged for an asteroid to collide with Gobotron rather than concede defeat. They did this knowing that the evil Last Engineer would be able to save them by transferring their consciousness into robotic bodies, called GoBots.
The Last Engineer opted to go into hiding rather than face trial for his war crimes, with the Master Renegade sequestering himself on Antares III to await the return of his ancient adversary. The conflict continued, and eventually the Guardian High Protector Cy-kill joined the cause and swiftly rose to leadership of the Renegades. They would clash with the Guardians many times over the years, but never could the Renegades quite achieve a decisive victory of the Guardians and their human allies at UNECOM. Among Cy-Kill's resources were the Renegade flagship, Rogue Star and a fleet of Thruster ships.
Eventually, Cy-Kill found himself on Axiom Nexus and swiftly recruited a new core of Renegades from among the Mini-Cons, Decepticons, and Predacons. When he had the opportunity reach a mass audience over the airwaves through ANN, he used it to spread Renegade propaganda explain his noble tale. Renegade Rhetoric
Notes
- The Axiom Nexus crew are all GoBots toys that never made it to the show. The "Mini-Cons" (who Cy-Kill says come from "Aurex something something I think") are small Wendy's exclusives, the "Decepticons" are large Super GoBots toys, and the Predacons that form Monsterous are a combiner pack.
