Acroyear (Micronaut)
| This article is about the Micronaut warrior. For a cheap place to stay, see Acroyear (motel). |
- Acroyear is a Micronaut from the Generation 1 continuity family

Acroyear is one of many genetically engineered super-warriors. Part of the "first generation," he escaped destruction, unlike the rest of his ilk, with the help of Oz Rael and joined his crew of Micronauts. Acroyear is able to summon a powerful sword from subspace, as well as activate turbine-powered wings.
In some universes, Acroyear is actually a title passed down to a prince in ancient armor.

Unit:E comic
After being sent out into space by his father and slumbering for most of his journey, Acroyear was awakened from cryogenic sleep by Biotron and Synergy. Though confused at first, Acroyear was reminded that he was searching for allies against Baron Karza, which Synergy believed she had found on the planet Earth. Though Acroyear scoffed at many of the potential candidates Synergy presented to him as viable allies, Synergy insisted on their abilities, noting that if he did his work right, the mysterious Unit:E would find him. While he still believed Earth's heroes to be too frail, Acroyear remembered his father's urgings to embrace his role and donned his armor, declaring they had "heroes to gather!" Unit:E
IDW Generation 1 continuity

While Scarlett expressed her worry about what other forces could appear on Earth following Optimus Prime's activities, Acroyear and the Micronauts were in the middle of a battle. Secret Raiders
After flying into the entropy storm in an attempt to both save their universe and escape Baron Karza, the Micronauts were attacked by Reptos, a race of beings previously thought destroyed by the cloud. Microtron sent Acroyear out to fight off the Reptos while Biotron repaired the ship. Acroyear and Biotron continued to fight until the crew was saved by the mysterious Time Traveler.
Several days into their journey, while tracking a mysterious energy source, the Micronauts received a message from Baron Karza. Karza told them that though it had only been a few days for them inside the storm, years had passed for him after he followed them into the cloud. The Micronauts soon arrived at the location of the energy source, or as Karza called it, the birthplace of Microspace: the body of Micronus Prime. Micronauts: Revolution
Karza explained how Micronus Prime held a living gateway, a space bridge, to another reality. Within this reality was a crystalline substance that could stabilize the Microverse and end the threat of the entropy cloud. Urged on by both Karza and the Time Traveler, Oziron led the Micronauts through the space bridge and into this new realm. O Ship of State They arrived inside Autobot City, but crossed paths with another infiltrator, the ninja-commando Snake-Eyes. After an encounter with both him and Arcee, they lay down arms long enough to find a solution that benefited both worlds. Alongside Rom, Spaceknight, they helped defend Autobot City from an invasion by the Dire Wraiths and Miles Mayhem's M.A.S.K. agents. All without understanding a word of English. That last bit proved costly when Baron Karza emerged from the Space Bridge as well and used "enerchange" to meld with the Dire Wraiths, bonding them to his armor. The New Colossus
Acroyear took the fight to Matt Trakker of M.A.S.K. when he continued firing on Optimus Prime despite Karza's obvious threat. This led him and Rom to fight against Snake-Eyes, who defended his fellow human. The squabbling warriors were soon drawn inside Optimus Prime's cab, forcing them to acknowledge that Karza was the main threat to them all.
Oz reasoned that Karza was using the vibratory frequency of the Ore-13 crystals as an energy source to neutralize the entropy cloud back in Microspace, but as a consequence the crystals were left violently and explosively unstable back on Earth. Realizing they could not sacrifice the safety of Earth for the security of Microspace, the Micronauts teamed with Mainframe, Soundwave, Rom, and Matt Trakker to stabilize the crystals and enerchange with the Space Bridge to draw Karza back into Microspace. The Micronauts were blown far afield and away from their allies in the backlash, however, and found themselves in the custody of human scientists. Valley Forge

Notes
- His name is pronounced "A-KROY-er," not "Acro-year."
- The Acroyear shown in the Unit:E comic resembles the Marvel Comics incarnation of the character, being alien royalty clad in armor.
- The IDW Acroyear being a mass-produced warrior for Baron Karza is a reference to the original Micronauts toy being the enemy of the Micronauts.
