This article is about the Nebulan Powermaster. For the Energon Mini-Con combined robot, see Throttle (Energon).
Throttle is an Nebulan Powermaster partnered with Darkwing in the Generation 1 continuity family.

A (self-admittedly) low-life thief, Throttle revels in his chosen profession and loves mixing with society's dregs. Throttle sees this as simple honesty and appreciates that in others. If he doesn't like you, he'll tell you in no uncertain terms. With Throttle, what you see is what you get. While his Powermaster partner Darkwing may disagree, the pair get on well because of that honesty. Sure the Decepticon may be a pessimist, but at least he doesn't pretend to be anything he's not.

The only serious issue in their relationship is Throttle's hotheaded and reckless nature in combat, the Nebulan is so keen to out do Dreadwind and Hi-Test that he has a tendency to over-exert himself and overheat, robbing Darkwing of power just when he needs it the most.

Marvel Comics continuity

Generation 1

A hot-headed thief, Throttle was recruited by the Hi-Test to serve as his new partner to allow the scientist to get even with his former friend Hi-Q. Following Hi-Test's instructions, Throttle stole Hi-Q's research data on fuel conversion. With this data Hi-Test was able to bio-mechanically engineered the pair's bodies to become Powermasters, returning the Decepticons Dreadwind and Darkwing to operation and putting lie to Hi-Q's promise of a Nebulos free of Transformers.

Initally content to ravage Nebulos stealing the mass quantities of food their excelerated metabolisms required to power the Decepticons rampages, their antics were only stopped by the arrival of a group of Autobots seeking to rebuild the body of Optimus Prime who underwent the same binary bonding procedure with Hi-Q and his staff. Their Powermaster advantage negated, Throttle, Hi-Test and their partners were exiled and driven off of Nebulos. People Power

Next, they took up a job as middlemen and "robot-spotters" for the Mecannibals. Because Master Mouth and his brood lived off of eating robots, Darkwing and Dreadwind posed as mere jets, allowing Hi-Test and Throttle to act as the primary partners in their dealings. After their ruse was uncovered by Sky Lynx and the Autobot Pretenders, however, the Powermasters found themselves on the run from their former bosses. Recipe for Disaster!
