The Blentrons were produced in mass numbers by Unicron in the form of the "Black Ball" to hunt down the Angolmois capsules after the explosion of Nemesis. One of their target was the planet Jörmungandr, where they killed most of the cobra-Transformer denizens, but were unable to find the Angolmois capsules.
After the failure of the Blentrons to find the Angolmois capsules, the Black Ball manipulated both Big Convoy's Maximals and Magmatron's Predacons to find the capsules. When Magmatron lost his troops, the Black Ball appeared and offered replacements: the Blentrons! The Blentron army was birthed out of the Black Ball itself and they woke with a roar. A Battle Fought Alone
With the Blentron army behind him, Magmatron lured the Maximals to an orbiting amphitheater, where the Blentrons were used to ransom the lives of Big Convoy's subordinates for the Angolmois capsules they had collected. With their goal in sight, a Latolata attacked Magmatron from behind, throwing him in with the Maximals and revealing their true master, Unicron. After Unicron shed the identity of the Black Ball, he revealed that he still needed the Angolmois Energy within Big Convoy and Magmatron. To facilitate its return, the Blentrons were sicced on the two, but they were fought off as Magmatron and Big Convoy flew in to attack Unicron directly. Double Cross
After Unicron acquired the Angolmois Energy he needed from Magmatron and obtained Cybertron as a new body, he was lured to the Georgian system by the Maximals. There, Unicron was trapped by crowded and exploding planets. The Maximals picked the opportunity to attack, but Unicron spat out another Blentron army to confront the Maximals. They were held at bay by the Maximals, allowing Big Convoy to make the final strike on Unicron. Return to Zero

After his defeat while attempting to devour Cybertron, Unicron slowly gathered his consciousness. Unable to physically intervene without a body, he anointed agents within the Cybertronian population to do his bidding. In the era after the Great War, he chose a pit-fighter, a construction bot, and a cultist to be reborn as the Blendtrons. Beast Wars Sourcebook
Prior to the return of Megatron to conquer the planet, Unicron directed the Blendtrons to the rising star of the warlord Shokaract, who had been exposed to Angolmois during a Predacon survey mission and remade himself into a titanic warrior. The Blendtrons gathered capsules of the potent energy and used it to facilitate the warlord's "ascension", which was in fact the rebirth of the Chaos-Bringer himself. This led to the devastation of Cybertron. Magmatron's astral self, able to traverse time and space but not affect it, witnessed this horrible event many times and hoped to somehow stop it. The Ascending #1 Magmatron allowed a message from the Earth-bound Maximals to get through to present-day Cybertron and Lio Convoy led a team to Earth. When Unicron got wind that his plans might be in jeopardy, he had Shokaract send the Blendtrons to Earth. Rartorata injected Razorbeast with Angolmois, turning him mad. The Ascending #2 A combined Maximal-Predacon force eventually destroyed the Blendtrons. The Ascending #4
Notes
- The Blentrons are heavily influenced by Lovecraftian mythology. They are a cult of grotesque freaks of nature who are capable of bending reality itself and are determined to resurrect a primordial god. Read "The Call of Cthulhu" one of these days; you'll catch the similarities.
- The insignia introduced with the Blentrons has since become the sigil for Unicron-aligned characters. It was first officially used as such with the Overcharge toy, and has since been used to represent Unicron in Transformers: The Ark, and appeared on the Kiss Players Sparkbots when their true allegiance was revealed.

- ↑ The Beast Wars Sourcebook went with "Blendtron" despite there being no "d" sound in the Japanese spelling. This spelling likely came from Ben Yee's own website.
