We are our dad!/We're our dad!/Boogie woogie woogie!

Volcaticon (ボルカティコン Borukatikon) is the ultimate expression of the power of familial bonds. A fusion of the Technobots and their father Grimlock, he combines Grimlock's warrior spirit with the Technobot's advanced weaponry. Unlike most combiners, Volcaticon's gestalt consciousness is a loose assembly centred around Grimlock, allowing his limbs to retain their individual will. This is allows them to download Computron's intelligence into Grimlock, returning him to his super-intelligent state. His upgraded brain lets Grimlock take on problems without resorting to Computron's sluggish, percentage-based thinking, useful for dealing with abstract issues like civil rights.

Volcaticon is made up of:

Generations Selects Special Comic

Volcaticon was born during the 2050 Selector uprising, with the Technobots siding against the Cybertron Alliance and the humans, Computron noting that they could never betray their father Grimlock. They arrived as Grimlock faced down Sky Lynx, who had already defeated the other Dinobots. The six combined into Volcaticon, Grimlock having gained combination abilities from Angolmois exposure and usage of Grimmaster's Energon Matrix. Volcaticon offered Sky Lynx an alliance, both being dinosaur robots, but Sky Lynx declined, calling Grimlock an idiot. Grimlock then retorted that if he was an idiot, he would simply get smarter, downloading Computron's intelligence into himself. The Technobots calculated Sky Lynx's weakpoints, and Volcaticon blasted him with an electropulse, separating him into his components and leaving him paralysed completely. Grimlock then explained the source of his intelligence, revealing that he planned to use his keen mind to find a peaceful solution that would benefit both the humans and the Selectors. Sadly, at that moment the Quintessons attacked, a desperate Spike having cut a deal with them to defeat the Selectors. Transformer-corroding gas bombs were dropped on the Alliance, Selectors and Dinobots alike. Volcaticon split apart and reformed as Computron and Volcanicus, the still-intelligent Grimlock advising that combination would increase their ability to resist the gas. Volcanicus comic 4.

Toys

While there's no official release of Volcaticon, you can make him yourself using the Unite Warriors release of the Technobots and Grimlock's Generations Selects toy. Good luck balancing Scattershot on top of Afterburner, though.

Trivia

  • Volcaticon's name is derived from Volcanicus (duh) and Computron's Japanese name, Computicon. An English-language version would be something like Volcamputron.
