Nosecone is an Autobot Technobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
For someone so slow, he can look very dynamic.

Nosecone's natural slowness of thought and action is often taken for laziness, but this is a misperception. Nosecone is a perfectionist, valuing precision over speed, and will take whatever time is needed to complete his objective as completely and competently as possible. His results speak for themselves—he's not the quickest bot on the block, but he'll do the job right.

He can combine with the other Technobots to form Computron.

Nosecone was part of Fortress Maximus's group of Autobots on Cybertron. When Fortress Maximus decided to leave the war and head to Nebulos, Nosecone and the other Technobots agreed to follow him on his quest for peace. Ring of Hate! However, the Decepticons followed the Autobots to Nebulos and brought the war with them.

In the Nebulos resort city of Splendora, Nosecone and the Technobots fought Abominus as the combined Computron. Though Abominus was defeated and routed, Splendora lay in ruins. Love and Steel! Nosecone and Lightspeed were badly injured during a Decepticon raid. The incident helped galvanize Fortress Maximus's decision over whether or not the Autobots should leave the planet behind. The Final Conflict Both factions ultimately left Nebulos for Earth. Nosecone and the rest of the crew of the Steelhaven met up with the main Autobot force aboard the Ark on Earth's moon to watch Grimlock battle Fortress Maximus's champion Blaster for overall leadership of the Autobots. After Starscream was empowered by his short exposure to the Underbase, he obliterated all of the Technobots, including Nosecone, in Buenos Aires. Dark Star

Marvel UK future timelines
[edit]

When Ultra Magnus responded to a garbled distress signal on Cybertron, he brought back-up in the form of Eject, Nosecone and the rest of the Technobots. Surprisingly enough, the Autobots found themselves fighting alongside their Decepticon nemeses against the Quintessons. Together, the Cybertronians managed to drive off the alien invaders, preventing them from forcefully colonizing their homeworld. Space Pirates!

In an alternate future of 2510, the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons concluded, and an Autobot Civil War began. During a heated discussion over whether Ultra Magnus or Springer should succeed Rodimus Prime as Autobot leader now that he was stepping down, the Autobots came to blows and rashly opened fire, leading to several deaths. Nosecone and the Technobots joined up with Ultra Magnus against Springer and his Wreckers, and so new battle lines were drawn. Peace

Nosecone and Lightspeed were members of a team led by Perceptor, tasked with investigating a mysterious explosion during the early days of the war on Cybertron. Reporting to Ultra Magnus, Nosecone revealed that the "explosion" was in fact a controlled blast from a massive planetary turbine, apparently intended to alter Cybertron's course through the cosmos. If you become a wall that stands in my way, I'll tear open a hole and break through you every time!

Nosecone was the first of the Technobots to be created by the temporarily super-intelligent Grimlock. He was built using parts from within Unicron's head, specifically for the purpose of tunneling through the reinforced walls within the chaos-bringer. Shortly afterwards, he combined with his new comrades to form Computron. Rodimus Prime welcomed the new team into the Autobot ranks back on Cybertron. Grimlock's New Brain

A short while later, he and the other Technobots were sent to Earth to learn how to interact with humans, taught by Marissa Faireborn. Nosecone advised careful consideration when Afterburner wanted to rush off into a fight with the Terrrocon Hun-Gurr, advice which Afterburner carefully ignored. After the battle, they encountered the unscrupulous trader Dirk Manus, who led them to his earstwhile allies, the Quintessons and Terrorcons, on Titan. As they dove to the rescue of their companions, Nosecone's scrupulous advice to Afterburner was once again roundly ignored. Captured by Manus, the Technobots were led to the Quintesson base, with Nosecone finding the trader's actions "quite intriguing". Manus furtively healed the team's injuries, enabling them to defeat Abominus shortly afterward. Money Is Everything

The Technobots responded to the Terrorcon attack on Mark Morgan's laboratory. Combining into Computron, they fought Abominus, but the battle inadvertently injured Morgan's daughter, leading the scientist and his friend Gregory Swofford to infect the Autobots with the Hate Plague. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1 Months later, the Technobots were present for the attack on Autobot City where the Decepticons stole the key to the plasma energy chamber. The Rebirth, Part 1 When the Golden Age of Cybertron was restored, Nosecone was among the crowd cheering for the revival. The Rebirth, Part 3

The Great Transformer War

[edit]

Nosecone and his Technobot comrades were under construction at Metroplex when the Autobots sought the aid of Doctor Dalton in improving their abilities. The Great Transformer War #1 Dalton heavily upgraded the Technobots' weaponry, allowing the combined Computron to easily outmatch the Decepticon combiner, Abominus. As the Decepticon motto goes, however: When in doubt, cheat. Galvatron outfitted the Terrorcons with "Cohesive Control Liquid", a substance that enabled them to assume control over Computron. Dalton arranged for Spike Witwicky to use a special exosuit to approach Computron safely and administer an antidote. The Great Transformer War #2

In 2011, Galvatron staged a major attack on Cybertron. Nosecone and the Technobots joined the Dinobots on the front lines of defense. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky As Hot Rod began his search for the Matrix of Leadership on Earth, Ultra Magnus gathered Nosecone and the Technobots to prevent the Decepticons from hampering his quest. When Hot Rod finally located the Matrix, Galvatron confronted him with the Decepticon Headmasters and Terrorcons, but the Technobots arrived to help even the odds. Scattershot ordered them to form Computron, and the mighty giant occupied the Decepticons so that Hot Rod could make a break for the space bridge. Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime

Later, Galvatron launched Metamorphose, a metal-twisting meteorite, and the Aerialbots were its first victims. Nosecone and the Technobots were sent out to recover their damaged comrades for repairs, but they were intercepted by the Terrorcons. The fighting escalated with new arrivals on both sides, as the Decepticons tried to keep their foes occupied until the meteorite reached Athenia, destroying the Autobots completely. The Battleship Maximus eventually arrived to carry the Headmasters into space to confront the meteorite, and so Nosecone and the Technobots formed Computron and covered their retreat. Approach of the Demon Meteorite

When a giant carnivorous plant took root in San Francisco, Ultra Magnus sent Nosecone and the Technobots to deal with the incident. The plant proved to be extraordinarily resilient, however, and it was also guarded by the Decepticons. The Technobots were distracted by combat with the Stunticons, first as individuals and later combined as Computron and Menasor. Head On!! Fortress Maximus After the Trainbots ran into trouble on Mars, Nosecone and his team were on the way to help when Sixshot and Trypticon intervened. The Earthbound Decepticons succeeded in occupying the Technobots so that they couldn't make it to Mars. Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger

Nosecone and the Technobots were part of a strike team that flew to the moon to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. They immediately formed Computron upon entering the battle. Return of the Immortal Emperor Nosecone's regiment later helped load the Trainbots with energon supplies for the destitute planet Sandra. They were attacked by the greedy Decepticons and fought back both as the mighty Computron and as individuals, using the Trainbots' large vehicle modes as a shield. SOS from Planet Sandra

The Technobots accompanied Fortress on his quest to prevent the Decepticons from stealing energy elsewhere in the galaxy. During this extended mission, Nosecone and his teammates formed Computron to battle Predaking on the planet Paradise. Head Formation of Friendship

After returning to Earth, Nosecone and the Technobots reassociated with Ultra Magnus at Autobot City on Earth. They were sent to Miami to counter a Decepticon attack, and battled Abominus as Computron. Unfortunately, the attack was a ruse to draw them away from Autobot City, and they were unable to stop Sixshot's assassination of Ultra Magnus. Ultra Magnus Dies!! The Decepticon attacks continued even after Magnus's death, as Sixshot launched five separate strikes at once around the world. Nosecone and the Technobots were dispatched as Computron to one of the many battle sites. The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, Nosecone and the Technobots assisted Spike in rebuilding the planet after the enemy's departure. On one occasion, they located Sixshot's old command base. By combining into Computron, the Technobots helped Defensor and Raiden obliterate the base, wiping out all trace of the Decepticons' presence. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)

As part of Computron, Nosecone participated in the Autobots final battle with Scorponok's Decepticons at the North Pole. He lent his energies to the Headmasters' Head Formation to revitalize Fortress Maximus at the critical moment. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)

Upon learning of the human custom of Father's Day, the Technobots decided to throw a surprise party for their own "father", Grimlock. Nosecone helped out by making decorations, and was still busy with this task when Grimlock arrived earlier than expected. Surprise Father's Day Party!!

In 2050, humans and the Cybertron Alliance learned how to harness Angolmois Energy from beneath the Earth's surface. It was used for many purposes, including medical procedures such as restoring the lost memories of the Autobot, Wheeljack. Nosecone and the Technobots were overjoyed by Wheeljack's restoration, as they considered him their "grandfather" for creating Grimlock and the Dinobots. Volcanicus comic 1

Relations soured between the Cybertron Alliance and humanity when humans created their own living robots called Selectors, who rose up and demanded their freedom. The Technobots prepared to abandon Earth Defense Command headquarters at Neo Scramble City. At Rodimus's request, they transformed into Computron to determine the humans' chances of winning. Computron initially calculated humanity's odds at approaching zero, but the probability changed drastically when Grimlock and the Dinobots declared loyalty to humanity. The Technobots refused to stand against their father, and entered the battle on the side of the Dinobots. Nosecone and the Technobots merged with the newly combiner-compatible Grimlock, forming Volcaticon. Volcanicus comic 2

First appearance: Stormbringer #1
Nosecone will always walk you home after a long night of Energon exposure.

During the reign of Zeta Prime, Nosecone served in the forensic department of Prowl's Autobot security forces. Nosecone was unimpressed when Prowl assigned new recruit Jetfire to work alongside him in the lab. The Next Day, and the Next True to form, Nosecone took a long time to warm up to his new workmate, giving him the silent treatment for at least a week after Jetfire began work. What It's Really Like

Approximately 4 million years later, Nosecone and the other Technobots crewed the Autobot vessel Calabi-Yau, under Jetfire's command. After landing on Cybertron, Scattershot, Lightspeed, and Strafe accompanied Jetfire on a reconnaissance mission and were captured by Bludgeon's group of Decepticons. Nosecone and Afterburner, having taken the Calabi-Yau back into orbit, were fired on by missiles, barely getting off an SOS. Stormbringer #1

The two crash-landed back on Cybertron after escaping the doomed ship in an emergency pod. As if the toxic environment of the planet wasn't enough, they were attacked almost immediately by Centurion droids. Stormbringer #2

With Afterburner knocked out, Nosecone survived just long enough to see the Wreckers charge in to the rescue. He was evacuated by Whirl to a safer location, and then revived by Topspin. The clearly still-hurting Nosecone wanted to accompany the Wreckers as they invaded Bludgeon's base to rescue the others, but was told by Topspin to "leave it to the professionals". Stormbringer #3

After Jetfire's team finished their study of Bludgeon's base and left Cybertron, they arrived in the Muta-Gaath Nebula on the Ark-27's to assist in the recovery of Omega Supreme and to incarcerate six Transformers capable of combining with each other to form a single robot. Nosecone oversaw the transportation of the prisoners onto their ship. Spotlight: Optimus Prime

OWIE.

Later, he was with the Technobots helping Jetfire try to reverse the debilitating effects of Jhiaxus's gestalt technology on Garrus-9's newest inmates. During the subsequent attack by the Decepticon Secret Service in an attempt to kidnap the gestalt members, Nosecone and the other Technobots were disabled by the Combaticons. Spotlight: Arcee

At Jetfire's behest, Nosecone and the Technobots began reverse-engineering the polydermal grafting process that Bludgeon had used on himself, Spotlight: Hardhead and rushed out aboard the Nightbird to deliver the shells to the crew of the Mirror-Manifold. Spotlight: Doubledealer Nosecone and the others got to the vessel just in time to save them from Cyclonus and gifted Cloudburst and his crew with new power-enhancing outer shells. Spotlight: Sideswipe

Years later, Nosecone was stationed at Kimia Facility when Cyclonus and the Sweeps attacked and massacred the Autobots there. He met with an especially horrible fate as the Sweeps ripped him apart with their teeth. Chaos Part One: Lamentations

First appearance: Transformers Annual 2021

Nosecone and the Technical Solutions Team joined up with Lodestar and Lightbright to search for Vigilem, the rogue Titan who attacked the Winged Moon. Afterburner and Nosecone passed the downtime in their search playing games, though in the end Afterburner always lost. Vigilem was eventually located at the Hexagon outpost. Base commander Thunderwing was recalcitrant with the team as they tried to secure Vigilem without leading to violence. Nosecone had to remind Afterburner (again, apparently) that collateral damage was a bad thing and to be avoided. Ramjet and Thrust made to lead Nosecone and Scattershot to Vigilem's docking controls while Dirge led Strafe and Lightspeed to the energon conduits feeding his repairs. When comms suddenly shut down, Scattershot smelled a set up and soon they were trading laser fire with the Seekers. Nosecone dug them a path into the atmosphere pipes, and they soon rescued Afterburner from Thunderwing's other guard, Bludgeon. A restored comms broadcast led them to Strafe and Lightspeed, who found the criminal scientist Airachnid performing experiments on Thunderwing's behalf. The Technical Solutions Team reunited and then genuinely united as Scattershot fell into the Combination Core, an artificial Enigma of Combination Airachnid had been working on. The resulting eruption brought the Team together as never before, creating a new Combiner known as Computron. Thunderwing ejected that section of Hexagon, leaving him/them to drift through space. The Technical Solutions Team disassembled and were recovered by Lodestar after she destroyed Vigilem. Light/Star

Nosecone and his team returned to Cybertron aboard the badly damaged Lodestar. They met with Optimus Prime and the besieged Autobots at Crystal City as they faced Strika and the Decepticon army. Computron and Lodestar were enough to make the Decepticons give pause, but the Technobots could not retain their combiner form indefinitely. Optimus sent them on ahead to the evacuation site at Darkmount to recover. The Landscape of Fear The other Autobots eventually made their way towards Darkmount, preparing to leave Cybertron aboard the last Ark. Computron battled the Decepticons' combiner Devastator as the passengers loaded, but wasn't strong enough on his own. Nosecone and the Technobots were forced apart, but Scattershot managed to double their strength by adding five volunteers from the Prime Guard to a new Computron. They sacrificed themselves to hold the Decepticons until the Ark took off, and the Autobots left behind were apprehended and imprisoned by Megatron. Fate of Cybertron

The Transformers

[edit]

I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole
  • Nosecone (Technobot, 1987)
Released in the fourth year of Hasbro's US The Transformers toyline (third year in Europe and in Takara's Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers line), Technobot Nosecone transforms into a Cybertronic drill-tank. He has a pair of "Rocket-Propelled" missiles that attach to his vehicle mode (though you can leave them off and give him a more low-riding vehicle form).
As a "Scramble City"-style combiner, he can form any limb to any compatible super robot combination, but his nominal placement is as the left leg of Computron. This results in an off-centered foot, since Nosecone doesn't have one peg hole in the center like most other Scramble City-style combiner limbs, but rather two holes left and right; the instructions show there was originally supposed to be a footplate with an off-center peg to compensate, but this did not make it to the final release. Nosecone is one of the very few Scramble City-style combiner limbs who, when used in their normal placement, faces backwards.
Towards the end of the Technobots' production run, they not only lost their rubsigns, but lost the molded-in indents that said rubsigns went into. While the other Technobots had the indents completely smoothed out as if they never existed, Nosecone's drill-topping block couldn't really be eliminated so easily, so the indent was partially filled in with a raised grill pattern.
There is also a packaging variant for all four small Technobots, which included a random bonus Autobot "Decoy" mini-figurine.

  • Computron (Multi-pack, 1987)
  • Takara ID number: C-91
  • Accessories: "X-ray laser pistol", left & right "rocket-propelled missiles"
All five Technobots were available both as individuals, and in a big complete "gift set". There are no notable differences between the individual and box set versions, though presumably all box sets use the "has the rubsign" variant of the Technobots.

Kre-O

[edit]
All those other guys have their friends, but me? (sob) So alone...
  • Nosecone (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2013)
  • Collection: 3
  • Bag number: ***** 50
  • Accessories: Logo brick, double-barreled pistol
  • Known designers: Ed Masiello (Hasbro){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
As part of the third wave of blindpacked Kre-O Micro-Changers, Nosecone is a Kreon that can be rebuilt into an adorable little drill tank.
He reuses Bludgeon's tank treads, Trailcutter's helmet, and shares his gun with Long Haul.
Though not technically a part of Kre-O Computron, he can be used as part of the combiner replacing another bot because, well, brick-based figure. If you're feeling crafty you can try and integrate him with the other four.

...on the other hand, I got the good hands now!
  • Nosecone (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2017)
  • Collection: Collection 3
  • Accessories: Logo plate, double-barreled pistol
In 2017, the Collection 3 Micro-Changers were re-released in a whole new production run, released through Dollar General stores in the US. These releases use the almost-entirely-retooled 2015 Kreon (making most parts incompatible with older Kreons), with slightly-differently-hued plastics and paints than the originals. Nosecone's tampographs are slightly altered, changing the flat light gray to metallic silver.
Sadly, this release has no individual-identification code on the bag, requiring you to use the feel-through-the-bag method or just buy blind and hope.

Combiner Wars

[edit]
That's not a drill...
  • Computron (Collection Pack, 2016)
  • Accessories: Drill-gun
Combiner Wars Nosecone is a redeco and slight retool of Brawl, transforming into a drill-tank. Brawl's gun/tank-barrel has been replaced with the non-spinning drill accessory that was previously included with the BotCon 2016 exclusive General Ramhorn figure. The "floppy waist" issue that affected a lot of Brawls appears to have been (mostly) remedied on Nosecone; while it's still not the most secure waist connection, at least it's not quite as floppy. As a Combiner Wars Deluxe Class figure, he can combine with any Voyager Class toys released as part of the Combiner Wars/Unite Warriors lines or with Legends Godbomber and form either an arm or a leg for the gestalt form, but his official purpose is to combine with his fellow Technobots and serve as the left leg of Computron.
Nosecone was only available as part of a Computron box set, including a poster and a collector card based on the set's packaging art. The set was one of several so-called "Collection Packs" that were "online exclusives" in the United States, available from online retailers such as Hasbro Toy Shop, Amazon, and BigBadToyStore as well as the online stores of "big box" retailers such as Toys"R"Us, Walmart, Target, and Kmart. In Hasbro's Asian markets such as Singapore and Taiwan, the set was available at general retail. In Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom, it was sold at Toys"R"Us stores, whereas in Spain, it was available via the Spanish subsidiaries of Amazon and Carrefour, as well as the department store chain El Corte Inglés, supposedly also only available online.

Unite Warriors

[edit]

...that's a drill.
  • Computicon (Gift set, 2016)
  • Release date: August 27, 2016
  • ID number: UW-08
  • Accessories: drill, rifle, 2 small blasters/missiles, double-gun/foot/hand
  • Known designers: Hisashi Yuki (TakaraTomy){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Available only as part of the Unite Warriors Computicon giftset, Nosecone transforms into a drill tank, with a color scheme that sits about halfway between his cartoon's orange-and-maroon and his toy's yellow-and-brown. He is a heavy retooling of the Combiner Wars Rook mold rather than the drill-tank tooling of Combiner Wars Nosecone. Many of these new parts, including his rifle, have 5 mm holes in them to accommodate accessories.
His massive drill accessory can turn, but does not spin freely. The tip is spring-loaded to collapse into the drill for safety reasons. It uses both a small peg to attach to the main vehicle's armature, and a hollowed 5 mm post, which means he can use his front-facing fist-holes to attach the drill there, or attach to the vehicle's front end to serve as a drill-hand for the arm mode. Awesome. All three of his new guns are designed to be used with his particular hand-hole configuration and held in a more traditionally-oriented fist.
Unfortunately, due to the internal molding of his shins, repeatedly transforming Nosecone will eventually create horizontal scratch marks across the hip parts of his thighs.
The packaging assigns him the Alpha Bravo/Blades/Vortex "gatling gun" hand/foot/gun accessory, rather than the "missiles" one previously associated with Rook (which instead went to Strafe).
