Paleotrex is a Predacon Fossilizer from the Kingdom portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Frightening in the dark.

65 million years in the making, Paleotrex transforms into the fossilized remains of a mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, also able to separate into skeletal armor and weaponry for his comrades, thanks to F.O.S.S.I.L. Technology. Someday, Optimus Primal will claim Paleotrex' head, store it inside his forearm, and hit people with it.

Part of the first wave of War for Cybertron: Kingdom Deluxe Class figures, Paleotrex transforms from skeletal Tyrannosaurus to robot and back by partsforming into 10 pieces and reassembling them all in a different configuration. As a Fossilizer, Paleotrex' parts can be used as C.O.M.B.A.T. System weapons and armor for other War for Cybertron Trilogy figures.
Paleotrex's robot mode head includes two apparent references to obscure gimmicks from the first year of the original Beast Wars toyline in 1996. First gimmick: Paleotrex' head is an 11th removable piece; it doesn't need to be removed during transformation, but when it is removed, it becomes a weapon based upon one that belonged to Optimus Primal. Second gimmick: the mace face now flips open along the jawline to reveal a new alternate inner face; similar to the mutant head gimmick found on every deluxe-or-larger figure in 1996. Neither of those gimmicks, not the mace nor the concept of multiple faces, was ever depicted onscreen when the 1996 Beast Wars toys were adapted into characters on the Beast Wars cartoon.
It's fitting for a Fossilizer to reference features forgotten by official fiction, because amongst the almost-exclusively-referential history of the Generations brand, every Fossilizer character has the extremely rare distinction of never appearing in prior animation.
Due to tiny feet and an oddly-proportioned body, Paleotrex' robot mode can be tricky to balance.
In Japan, Paleotrex was released as a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive.

Notes

For once, someone witnessing a Prime’s face-stealing will go face-to-face with a face.
  • When Paleotrex' robot mode facemask is flipped down, its appearance is based on Optimus Primal's spiky mace.
  • It's unknown whether Paleotrex' apparent "Mutant Head" gimmick is intentional or just an amazing coincidence.
