Upon his defeat at the hands of Megatron, the spirits of the fallen Autobot commanders residing within the Matrix activated the Reconfiguration Matrix and resurrected Optimus Prime as Battle Convoy. Part of his upgraded form was the Cybertonium Sword, which was powerful enough to chop Megatron's fusion cannon right off his arm. Birth of the New Supreme Commander Battle Convoy!

A "saber weapon" was included with Generation 2 Laser Optimus Prime.

This mold was also used for the Black Sword of Car Robots Black Convoy (as in turn, the Sword of Fury of Robots in Disguise Scourge) as well as the unnamed sword of e-HOBBY G-2 Laser Ultra Magnus. It may have been included with Universe Toxitron, but that release was canceled.

The original sword was reissued by TakaraTomy in 2006. It uses the rounded version of the sword included in the Robots in Disguise Scourge mold.

Transformers (2010)

An unnamed new sword mold was included with Reveal the Shield Optimus Prime.

This mold was used for Timelines Sword of Fury, the first Legends Black Sword, and the Timelines/Shattered Glass Terminus Blade.

• Chaos on Velocitron (Multi-pack, 2017)

The third mold of the sword was included with Titans Return Refractor & Laser Prime, part of the "Chaos on Velocitron" multi-pack. This unnamed sword was redecoed from the loosely Return of Convoy-themed Diac & Optimus Prime.

This mold was used for the second Legends Black Sword, Street Fighter II × Transformers Ryu's sword and Double Pretender Megatron's sword.

Notes

• Generation 2 Laser Optimus Prime's sword has never been named by Hasbro toy packaging, merely being referred to as a "saber weapon" in the Hasbro Generation 2 packaging. By contrast, Japanese G-2 fiction described it as a specialized Cybertonium blade. Almost two decades later, it received the name "Laser Rod" for the United toy release, deriving from the European Generation 2 figure name, "Laser Rod Optimus Prime. This was used again in 2017 for Earth Wars, presumably because Simon Furman was involved in writing both.
