The name or term "Excavator" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Excavator (disambiguation).
Excavator is a Decepticon Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Don't mess with this guy. His fists are bigger than his head.

Excavator would probably be perfectly happy as an Autobot, so long as he got to build things. He prefers to quietly gather supplies and tools in anticipation of the Constructor Squad's next project, and then throws himself into the actual work with enthusiasm and excitement.

His combiner partner is Stonecruncher. While Excavator doesn't hate him, he still tries to avoid the guy. Probably because he likes the peace and quiet of being left to think to himself, rather than being dragged off to a kegger.[1]

Toys

Generation 1

This is the work he really loves.
  • Constructor Squad (Micromaster Combiner Squad, 1990)
Excavator transforms into a yellow crane trailer which is intended to be the back half of a crane truck, which he forms with his combiner partner Stonecruncher. He can, of course, be connected to any other Micromaster Combiner.
Excavator was only available in a six-pack with his squad mates Stonecruncher, Grit, Hammer, Knockout, and Sledge.
This toy was sold without changes in Japan as the Autobot Excavator. This mold was also used to make Surge.
