Sadly, this isn't Megatron's seventh alt-mode, but if it was, it would totally have been a cooler weapon alt mode than that other Megatron had.

The Mega-Laser Cannon has enough power to destroy an entire city block and can be remote-controlled. It's so big, it has to be mounted on a stationary turret, requiring one to lure the target into range.

As plans go, it wasn't one of Megatron's better ones.

2001 Robots in Disguise cartoon

As part of the process for constructing the Mega-Laser, the Predacons stole the world's largest ruby, alerting the Spy Changers to the fact that something was up. As work on the cannon progressed, the Predacons became aware that one of the Spy Changers, Mirage, seemed dissatisfied with his teammates, and he was soon approached to join the Predacon cause. When he agreed, Sky-Byte took him to the Mega-Laser Cannon at its location in the twelfth quadrant.

A demonstration of the laser destroyed a nearby mountain, and Mirage was instructed to lure the other Spy Changers to the location so they could be destroyed. Of course, it turned out Mirage was shamming, and he warned the Autobots that the Predacons were lying in wait. Megatron attempted to destroy them using a remote triggering of the Mega-Laser, but the Spy Changers had T-AI extend the Global Space Bridge around the cannon, allowing them to destroy it. Notes

  • The Mega-Laser Cannon shares the same color palette as the Megastar and Megatron himself. Vanity, or just color-coordination?
