... seriously, what is up with my left hand? My pinky is longer than my index finger!

Alligatron[1] (アリゲトロン Arigetoron) is the leader of the Decepticon-aligned Beastformers, anthropomorphic animal aliens from planet Beast. He is king of Lennonia, over Emperor Killer Fish, and was born in the Bow River. He was once a traveling bodyguard-for-hire whose battles earned him a reputation as a "wandering murder weapon", but he later changed his life around and settled down as a pacifist. Well, until becoming a Decepticon, at least. Alligatron can spit laser beams by grinding stones between his teeth, and with his telescoping Allistretcher weapon in hand he's more powerful than a tank. He's also known by the nickname Alli (アリ Ari).

Sometimes there are lots of him.

White alligators, they hold axes like this...
Voice actor: Ikuya Sawaki (Japanese)

Galvatron and the Decepticons came to planet Beast to enslave the population and force them to work on a mysterious engineering project. To make the task easier, they formed an alliance with Alligatron and his soldiers to round up the populace.

During a rebel attack on the Decepticon stronghold led by White Leo, Alligatron ordered his soldiers (including another Alligatron) to kill all of the rebels and leave no prisoners. Later, when the Autobot Transformers arrived on Beast, a spying Snakebomb reported their presence to the leader Alligatron, who in turn relayed the information to Galvatron.

When Wheelie and Daniel tried to infiltrate the stronghold, an Alligatron was standing guard at the entrance.

Later, an Alligatron alerted the other Decepticons of the approaching Autobot Transformers. He fled the scene when Rodimus Prime shot the stronghold and sent rubble flying. Rebellion on Planet Beast

The Headmasters comic

Alligatron suggested they use the Autobots as bait for White Leo and the rest of the Headmasters. The arrival of Raiden and the Trainbots swayed the tides of battle, however, and Galvatron and the Decepticons abandoned Beast, leaving Alligatron to his fate. The Decisive Battle of Planet Beast!

Toys

Headmasters/Beastformers

  • Alligatron (Beastformer, 1987)
    • Beast ID number: 15
    • Accessories: "Allistretcher" blade
Part of the first series of Beastformers, Alligatron is an anthropomorphic albino alligator with dark olive robotic armor. He came with his "Allistretcher" (アリストレッチャー) blade-weapon.
His rubsign reveals one of three symbols; Fire, Water or Wood. The initial release has the symbol as a black outline against "mood ring" style color-changing backdrop. He was re-released in series three, in a new box lacking the Transformers brand marks; this release gives him a rubsign that reveals a full-color symbol on a black backdrop.

  • Alligatron white version (Beastformer, 1987)
    • Accessories: weapon
A solid-white version of Alligatron was sold through gumball machines in Japan. The gumball versions of the Beastformers appear to have randomized weapons (or just crummy quality control).

  • Burstsun Special Set (Multi-pack, 1987)
    • Beast ID number: 15
    • Accessories: "Alistretcher" blade
The first Beastformers multipack (still using the Transformers logo and factions) contained nine normal figures, then one of two special editions of the faction leaders: either a clear plastic "Ghost Alligatron" (ゴーストアリゲトロン), or White Leo with the "Burstsun" rubsign. The box contained no windows, so you didn't know which of the leaders you got until you opened it up.
The other nine standard Beastformers in the set were Black Jaguar, Būpink, Crowmax, Dog Hunter, Dream Eater, Earthhog, Mingo Kid, Muskhorn, and Slo.

Notes

  • The Hasbro release of "Gruesome Gator" was similarly (eventually) available with both styles of rubsign.
  • Kreon Alligatron uses an extensively "painted" beast head part of the type first used by Razorclaw and other Predacon Kreons, and wields the curved blade first used by Insecticon and Rampage.

Foreign names

  • English: Gruesome Gator
