Rampage is a Decepticon Predacon from the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Just hand over the remote control, and no one has to die here."

Rampage is a bundle of hyper-energetic, destructive fury. He has difficulty thinking or talking for more than a short time without bursting into a wild rage and smashing everything around him. This trail of wreckage makes it easy to follow him anywhere. The only thing that really calms him down is television. Generally the more mindless and stupid the programming, the more enraptured and entranced he becomes. Rampage can watch music videos for hours and hours without twitching a circuit.

He and his fellow Predacons can combine to form Predaking.

It's better to fight and die than live with the knowledge that you—oh, forget it.

As Megatron's paranoia reached its peak, Soundwave suggested that they enlist the help of the Predacons to flush out Optimus Prime, allowing Megatron to finally defeat him. However, Shockwave called them from Cybertron, and gave the Predacon leader Razorclaw secret orders to turn on Megatron at a crucial moment. The Predacons successfully hunted down Optimus, Prey! and when Megatron arrived, as Shockwave ordered, they turned on him. Razorclaw and Rampage had been both tasked with distracting Megatron, and did so by feigning their final attack against Optimus. Both Predacons leaped over the Autobot and ran off into nearby woods, leaving Megatron too flabbergasted to notice Tantrum and Headstrong before they tackled him down. After learning of Shockwave and the Predacons' betrayal, Megatron summoned a space bridge to Cybertron to escape, but Prime flung them both through the bridge before it had fully materialized. ...The Harder They Die!

A short time later, Shockwave heard explosions near the Decepticons' Wyoming base and fearing Megatron had returned, he took a squad of Decepticons including Rampage to meet him. Instead they found the time traveling Galvatron attacking some Autobots. Deciding that Galvatron posed the greater threat, Shockwave ordered Rampage and the others to attack and unwilling to harm his future troops, Galvatron retreated. Fallen Angel Fortunately for Rampage and the other Predacons, when Megatron returned for real, he had lost his memory of their assassination attempt when Straxus attempted to take over his body. Resurrection!

On returning to Cybertron, the Predacons were surprised when Shockwave contacted Razorclaw with orders to travel to Earth and kill Megatron again. Disguised as Autobots, they attacked Megatron when he was alone and Rampage managed to claw off a portion of Megatron's helmet with his opening volley. Despite his injuries and their ability to merge into Predaking, Megatron sent the Predacons packing. Gone but Not Forgotten! Later, Divebomb complained that he was bored of life on Earth, so the Predacons demolished a human circus to cheer him up. The Dinobot formerly known as Divebomb saw a TV news report about the attack and upon recognising his former sparring partner tracked down the Predacons. This sparked a brawl between the Dinobots and the Predacons during which Rampage got the upper hand over Sludge, though they were ultimately defeated and sent packing by Grimlock. Grudge Match!

Rampage was present at the Decepticons' underwater base when Galvatron returned. Shockwave chose to try and have his troops gun down the encroaching super-Decepticon, only for Galvatron to inform them after easily breaching their defenses that he had come in peace; it was Shockwave's decision to meet him with violence that then prompted him to declare them his enemies. Rampage turned to Shockwave, utterly unimpressed with how his leader had handled the situation, as Galvatron once more took his leave. Enemy Action!

Bad kitty!

Under Ratbat's leadership, Rampage and the Predacons raided a chemical plan for liquid oxygen fuel. At the time RAAT were holding the six Throttlebots captive and since Forrest Forsythe refused to believe the Autobots and Decepticons were separate factions, he issued an ultimatum that one more attack would lead to the Throttlebots' execution. When the Decepticons attacked again and the Throttlebots were publicly executed, the Predacons and Ratbat arrived to verify that they really were dead, but it became apparent that the Autobots' brain modules had been removed before death. Tracking the "fuel scent" of the brain modules to a nearby mall where the Throttlebots were being transported inside toy cars, Rampage and the others attempted to capture them but were outmanoeuvred at every turn by their miniature opponents. Toy Soldiers!

The Decepticons relocated to the Arctic, only to be apparently found by an enemy force. Rampage and the others scrambled out to meet their visitors, finding not the Autobots as they had anticipated, but rather another group of Decepticons led by Scorponok. Through subtle manipulations, Starscream managed to pit both groups against one another, culminating in a giant brawl between them. Rampage had a truly spectacular fight with Scorponok's animal flunky Apeface during this first Decepticon Civil War—after he ripped off Apeface's arm and spat it out, the Horrorcon proceeded to beat the Predacon with his own limb. Cold War! The Decepticons were ultimately forced to join up with the Autobots in order to stop Starscream from going on a rampage across the globe, after the latter managed to absorb a portion of the power contained within the legendary Underbase. The Autobot/Decepticon alliance scattered their forces to cities they knew Starscream would attack, with Rampage getting sent to Tokyo as part of a group led by Scorponok. There, Starscream used the cosmic energies he had absorbed to blow him and the other Predacons to pieces. Dark Star

Earthforce

[edit]
These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel continuity. See Earthforce for details.

Rampage and Razorclaw were patrolling the Canadian snowfields for Shockwave and bumped into Grimlock, who had just been had by the Dinobots as an April Fools' joke—they had set up a fake challenge by Shockwave and lured him out into the cold, only to find a "Shockwave snowman" and a sign. Razorclaw and Rampage thought this was very funny. What Grimlock did to them ended up being censored, but it probably wasn't hugs and kisses. Snow Fun!

Later on, Rampage was seen at the Enclave talking to Scavenger. He was presumably swept up in the fracas when the Autobots sabotaged the peace-talks, pitting Shockwave's and Megatron's against one another once more. The Bad Guy's Ball! He also joined Soundwave in attacking the Autobot Earthbase after the two Decepticon factions reunited with each other. Despite the base's defenses being inactive at the time, the Decepticons were driven off in short order. Divide and Conquer!

Marvel UK future timelines

[edit]

Rampage was part of the Decepticon army under Soundwave's command in 2008, when they planned an all-out assault on the Autobot base on Cybertron. Unfortunately, the Quintessons who tipped them off about the opportunity had been setting a trap, and the Decepticons were ambushed by Allicon warriors. Rampage and the other ground troops bailed out of Astrotrain in mid-air, and he quickly assumed the high ground in order to gun down the opposition. Rampage was last seen fighting alongside his sub-commander, Razorclaw, but his final fate in the battle is unknown. Space Pirates!

The Predacons landed on Jupiter's moon of Io to attack the Autobot team carrying Metroplex's transformation cog. Rampage transformed into beast mode and charged at EDC Commander Marissa Faireborn, but she easily leapt to avoid him, causing the Decepticon to stop in his tracks and accidentally get rammed in the flank by Tantrum. Rampage then joined the other Predacons in forming Predaking, who was promptly defeated by Sky Lynx. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

On planet Dread, Galvatron was using the Predacons to patrol his new death crystal mining operation when Sky Lynx and the Autobots came to the planet. Kup and Blurr were sent out first as scouts and the Predacons staged a coordinated assault against them. First Divebomb softened the duo up with some rocket bombs, then Rampage and Razorclaw tag-teamed Kup, keeping him busy while the others could finish off Blurr. The tide turned when Sky Lynx and the other Autobots came looking for their front-runners, though, and the Predacons were sent into retreat. Chaos

When making an attempt on Rodimus Prime's life on Cybertron, Rampage and the Predacons were caught up in a nightmarish fantasy world, projected into reality by the Quintessons by tapping Daniel Witwicky's subconscious mind. After Razorclaw was carried off with the Autobot Springer by one of the dream creatures, Rodimus suggested the two factions team up and search for their friends together. Headstrong and Tantrum were vehemently against the idea, and so Rampage stuck with his pack. After nearly being eaten by a giant plant, however, Rampage may've helped convince his teammates that togetherness was a good idea, because the Predacons started working more closely with Rodimus and Ultra Magnus after that. Nightmare Planet

When Predaking detected a signal on the Quintesson's signal, he followed it to a jungle planet, where they separated and battled the Autobots for it, facing defeat by Sky Lynx once more. The Quintesson Journal

Razorclaw was among the Primitives who were summoned by Primacron's assistant to fight Tornedron, greatly objecting to Sky Lynx's leadership of the group. While fleeing Tornedron, Headstrong declared that it would be better to die fighting. Razorclaw agreed, and ordered the Predacons to form Predaking. They got their energy sucked from them for their troubles. Call of the Primitives

During the plague-infected Decepticons attack on Galvatron, they combined into Predaking and attacked him and the Autobots that came to his rescue. Later, the separated Predacons were among a group of infected Transformers who broke into Autobot City and were on the verge of destroying the inert Optimus Prime when the Autobot leader awoke and used the Matrix of Leadership's energies to cure them all. Rampage and the Predacons were part of Galvatron's strike force on Cybertron in 2011, seeking to wrest control of Vector Sigma from the Autobots. Along with the Headmasters and Stunticons, the Predacons outmaneuvered the Dinobots and Throttlebots into the bottom of a canyon, and began firing down upon them. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Later, the Predacons traveled to Earth in order to stymie Hot Rod's attempt to locate the Matrix of Leadership. Rampage's unit found the former Autobot leader in the Arctic, but were held off by Blaster, his Mini-Cassettes, and Superion. Rampage fought his fellow big cat, Steeljaw, before cheating and turning into robot mode. The Mystery of Planet Master Rampage and the Predacons were among the Decepticons Galvatron brought with him to the planet Beast, although they were absent during the Autobot attack that drove the Decepticons off. Don't look now, Rampage, but your chest is about to sneeze.

When the Autobots created a new kind of metal on Cybertron called Cybertonuron, Galvatron wanted to claim it for himself. He sent Rampage and the Predacons to Cybertron as an advance guard to pave the way for his forces. They mowed down Cybertron's standing guardians and began to wreak havoc on the planet. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Rampage and the Predacons assembled as Predaking to help Scourge and Cyclonus steal the Sol 1 satellite, but they were driven off by Raiden and the Headmasters. The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok Next, Rampage and the Predacons helped Scorponok stage a crisis to keep the Autobots distracted, by setting off a volcano in Peru. On-scene to keep the Autobots from rescuing innocent villagers, Rampage's group first clashed with the Trainbots before joining forces as Predaking and once again fighting Raiden and the Headmasters. The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts

As Scorponok began his plan to capture the plasma energy of Mars by blowing it up, Rampage and the Predacons stood guard on Mars as the Terrorcons began planting the necessary bombs. When the Trainbots stumbled across the plot, the Predacons started up a firefight to dispose of the meddling Autobots. With Daniel Witwicky and Wheelie missing, the Trainbots tagged out with the Autobot Headmasters to go looking for them. Razorclaw gave the order and Predaking was formed. Unfortunately, even Predaking was no match for Transtector power, and he was felled by a quadruple jump kick by the Headmasters. Explosion on Mars!! Wings Universe

[edit]
Wings Universe is based on the Generation 1 cartoon, but deviates from it in cosmetic ways and continuity points.

Splitting off from the Decepticons in the wake of their peace accords with the Autobots, the Predacons formed their own faction, supplementing their forces with Transformers from stasis pods that Sky-Byte pilfered from Jhiaxus's laboratory. A Common Foe

Rampage and his fellow Predacons were apparently Decepticon warlords at some point in the past. Exactly when is unclear, but they were exiled from Cybertron and eventually wound up on Planet Beest. The Predacons' higher brain functions degraded, and they became feral, wandering bestially on the planet until Megatron found them, tamed them, and taught them to beg for robo-kibble. The Predacons menaced Nautilator as he traveled through their piece of the Gladiator Zone, but the Seacon escaped by diving into a pool of green liquid. Rampage was disappointed since he was "in the mood for seafood", only to have his wish granted when Piranacon emerged from the depths. In turn, the Predacons merged into Predaking and battled him, but the two giants were interrupted when Serpent O.R. arrived from Earth and convinced them to join new Decepticon army. The Art of War #2

After helping in the capture of a few Autobots and human soldiers, Rampage was part of a Decepticon gathering for recruiting more warriors for their army. As part of Predaking, he then attacked an Autobot peace ceremony. The Art of War #3 After returning to base he hung out with Divebomb, telling his partner how much he was looking forward to attacking Earth and tearing apart some "nice, soft humans". At that moment, their human prisoners escaped and released their Autobot friends, who introduced Rampage and Divebomb to a world of pain. The Art of War #4

Writer Pete Sinclair stated that the Rampage in this story is a descendant of the original, but this was not made explicit in the material.

In the years before the rise of the Decepticons, Kup helped train the Predacons. The Iron Klaw Rampage and the other Predacons joined the original complement of Decepticons, partaking in the gladiatorial games in Kaon for some time under Megatron's direction. Megatron Origin #3

When Scorponok usurped control of the Decepticons, the Predacons deserted in protest, making their way to Canis Tor where they entertained themselves hunting down all the local animals until they were stranded and low on fuel. Rampage blamed Razorclaw for their predicament and picked a fight with him, though the others didn't have much faith in his chances of winning. The battle was interrupted by Divebomb collapsing, but before the starving Predacons could cannibalize their teammate they were approached by Starscream, who let them know Megatron had returned. Primacy #2 Returning to the Decepticons, the Predacons participated in Megatron's attack on Iacon where they killed Slinger and battled the Dynobots. Primacy #4

At one point during the war between the Autobots and Decepticons, the Predacons killed a squad of Autobots, leaving only one survivor in Tracks. When Jazz came to evacuate him, they shot down his transport and attacked the two Autobots, but Rampage and Headstrong were quickly defeated when they fell victim to a bomb planted by Tracks. Spotlight: Jazz

Shortly after the first defeat of Thunderwing, Rampage participated in the Decepticons' big push against the worn-out Autobot positions after Blaster was taken out of commission by an assassin. Spotlight: Blaster

In the modern era, as a crewman aboard the Decepticon warship Thanatos, Rampage was dispatched to Cybertron to destroy the newly reactivated Thunderwing (and, if necessary, Cybertron). He expressed his admiration for the Autobots attempting to stop Thunderwing with too-few forces, to which Razorclaw agreed and dispatched teams of Decepticons to assist the Autobots. Rampage canceled the bombardment on Razorclaw's order with one second remaining after Optimus Prime neutralized Thunderwing. Stormbringer #4

Behold my beautiful stripes!

A few years later, the Predacons were left on Earth following the failed Decepticon invasion of Earth. Hawk Among the Sparrows Around this time, the team briefly experimented with combining, but the unreliable technology involved, combined with their naturally argumentative personalities, meant that the effort went nowhere. The Iron Klaw With Razorclaw having abandoned his team, Rampage took command and formed an alliance with China, defending the nation's borders in exchange for energon, and first revealed themselves when battle between the Skywatch-allied Autobots and North Korea-allied Combaticons got too close to China. Hawk Among the Sparrows

I SAID BEHOLD!

While he was uninterested in Optimus Prime's offer to set aside their differences, Rampage was willing to let the intruders off with a warning and calmly turned to leave... only to be shot in the back by Onslaught. Believing the Autobots were responsible for the cowardly attack, the Predacons joined the fight, with Rampage soundly trouncing Spike Witwicky's crash suit. The battle was then interrupted when Witwicky and Onslaught reported an incoming nuclear strike from Russia, and the Predacons quickly scurried off to safety. Minutes later, Thundercracker blew up the Chinese energon factories, leading to Rampage and the others abandoning their loyalty to the humans. All My Sins Remembered

Once the war ended, Rampage ended up in Autobot captivity on Cybertron. The Autonomy Lesson He was among the Decepticons who began rioting in the street in response to the return of Megatron. City on Fire He would eventually join Galvatron's Decepticon faction in another attempted invasion of Earth, but fared poorly against Victorion's gravity powers and was ultimately knocked out by a human mindbomb. Once Upon a Time on Earth

Once more marooned on Earth, the Predacons fell under the sway of the villainous Count "Iron Klaw" van Rani. The Kalistanian dictator sought to turn their strength to his own, and used his contacts within the nefarious Iron Ring to procure Garrison Kreiger and one of his artificial Talismans to forcibly brainwash the Predacons into becoming his private army. Their individual personalities suppressed, Kreiger was able to improve on their botched combiner technology and grant them the ability to become Predaking.

When Baron Ironblood visited van Rani to check on the progress of their plans, the count took the opportunity to show off his new weapons, and deployed Predaking shortly afterwards to stop Kup, Action Man, Snake-Eyes, and G.B. Blackrock. Though powerful, the combiner was undone after Snake-Eyes smashed the console responsible for keeping the Cybertronian combined and brainwashed. Rampage was knocked unconscious by the separation, and abandoned after Razorclaw stormed off to settle a score with humankind. The Iron Klaw

I feel strange... Do I come from Somewhere?

As his name would suggest, Rampage is an unstoppable killing machine. He fights with such intense energy and hatred that he is more comparable to a natural disaster than a Decepticon, as he cannot be reasoned with at all. During these episodes of manic fury, he targets all indiscriminately and is barely coherent. These bouts of violent explosive action are seemingly not brought on by anything at all and just happen at complete random. Rampage bio

The Transformers

[edit]

Tyger, Tyger, burning neon...
  • Rampage (Predacon, 1986)
Released in the third year of the original The Transformers toyline, Predacon Rampage transforms into an orange, black, and red robotic tiger. His beast mode legs and head have varying degrees of articulation (though the latter has more to do with his transformation). As was the norm for toys made during the period, he has limited articulation in robot mode. Rampage is armed with two black lightning rifles and a gold thermo-sword; the rifles can peg into his tiger-mode shoulders, but his sword has nowhere to go.
Normally, Rampage forms the right arm of Predaking, but can also be used as the combiner's left arm (which was the configuration seen for Predaking's comic and animation models).
As with the rest of the Predacons, the initial release of Rampage had die-cast metal parts which were later replaced by plastic: in Rampage's case, his hip/waist assembly. In Japan, he was available individually or as part of a gift set with the rest of the Predacons.
Rampage's sword was later redecoed and included in the Age of Extinction Silver Knight Optimus Prime & Grimlock exclusive 2-pack as an accessory for Silver Knight Optimus Prime.

  • Predaking (Gift set, 1986/2004)
  • ID number: D-78
  • Accessories: thermo-sword, 2 lightning rifles
In Japan, all five Predacons were also made available as a very large gift-set. All of the toys in this set are identical to their individual releases; it is unclear if Takara's Predacons had metal parts or were all-plastic (or both).
This huge box was reissued in 2004, using the die-cast construction of the initial releases.

Welcome to Transformers 2010

[edit]

  • Predaking (Gift set, 2010)
  • Accessories: "Thermo-sword", 2 "lightning rifles"
The original Predacon molds were reissued as a part of TakaraTomy's Welcome to Transformers 2010 line. Rampage features significant differences from the prior versions; his red, gray, and black plastic is altered to a metal fleck equivalent color. All of his label stickers were redesigned, most notably his chest label that more closely resembles the animation design. Also included are optional labels for Rampage's eyes to make them red in both modes.
This version of Rampage features die-cast metal parts.

Kre-O

[edit]
Now with cheddar flavored chest armor!
  • Decepticon Rampage (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2013)
  • Collection: 1
  • Bag number: ***** 45
  • Accessories: Logo brick, 2 small pistols, blade
  • Known designers: Ed Masiello (Hasbro){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Part of the first normal wave of Kre-O Micro-Changer Kreons, Rampage is a blindpacked-bagged mini-figure, though a stamped ID number can be found on the back of the bag, top-right corner. He comes with extra parts to convert him into a tiger (we guess), including a new generic beast-like head piece.
Though he is sold separately from the later Micro Changer Combiner Predaking, you can try to work him into the nominally-four-bot build if you like.

  • Decepticon Rampage (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2016)
  • Collection: 1
  • Accessories: Logo plate, 2 small pistols, blade
In 2016, Collection 1 was re-released in a whole new production run for Dollar General stores in the US as part of a large collection of re-released Kre-O sets. But where most of these releases are nigh-identical to the originals, the re-released Micro-Changer blind-bags use the almost-entirely-retooled 2015 Kreon, with slightly-differently-hued plastics than the originals. (It is possible for some of the add-on pieces to be in the older hues.) They also come with a flat 3x4 Kre-O logo plate rather than the 2x4 logo brick. Sadly, this release has no individual-identification code on the bag, requiring you to use the feel-through-the-bag method or just buy blind and hope.
Rampage's torso tampographs have also been reworked to be more detailed, but the paint on the upper torso parts is now much darker, barely contrrasting with the underlying burgundy plastic at all. His face and the formerly-bare legs now have extra detail tampographing on them.

Platinum Edition

[edit]
Why am I holding Tantrum's sword?
  • Predaking (Gift set, 2014)
  • 10 OF 30
  • Accessories: thermo-sword, 2 lightning rifles
Platinum Edition Predaking is another reissue of the Predacons similar to the 2010 release, complete with die-cast metal parts. He also uses the redesigned stickers.

Power of the Primes

[edit]
Chin up, man, you got a new toy!
Power of the Primes Rampage was released as part of Titan Class Predaking. He transforms from tiger to robot to Predaking's left arm and back. The front half of the combined robot's arm cannon becomes Rampage's tiger tail, as well as his robot mode's weapon.
The box set also includes stickers which come on a sheet and are not, unlike the rest of the line's stickers, factory-applied.
Predaking was reissued in 2026, with pre-orders going up on November 7, 2025.

    • Stars: 5
Predacon Rampage, Savage Hunter was released as part of the Transformers Trading Card Game Wave 2: Rise of the Combiners. Like all other members of combiner teams released in the set, Predacon Rampage, Savage Hunter is a folding card, with the Bot and Alt modes being depicted when the card is folded in half, and a holofoil portion of the the combined mode depicted when unfolded. The reverse of Predacon Rampage, Savage Hunter depicts Predaking's left arm, which is formed by Rampage in the artwork.
The artwork for Bot and Alt Mode is reused from the Transformers Legends mobile game.
Predacon Rampage, Savage Hunter can be used to form Predaking, Ferocious Hunter with the use of the Action card Predacon Enigma while he and the other Wave 2 Predacons are in Bot mode on the battlefield or KO area.
