Coolus is a Monsterbot serving under Affluous as one of his "Energon Masters".

At some point following Cybetron's restoration, Affluous forced Teknicus to build a device that would divide and segregate the Monsterbots, with Affluous' loyalists becoming "Energon Masters" and those he deemed unworthy being branded as "bugs". Becoming one such Energon Master, Coolus would serve his leader as one of his guards alongside Hippus and Raddus.

When Bumblebee arrived at the Energon Masters' city looking for Grimlock, Coolus and his comrades rescued the Autobot from invading bug Stinkus. As they welcomed Bumblebee into their city, they explained their culture. Of course, Bumblebee was eventually appalled to see how Affluous was wasting energon in water fountain shows during his parties. When he and the party's singer Operatus were suddenly paralyzed by "the shocks", Coolus escorted them to the Energon Masters' dungeon.

Soon afterwards, a group of bugs led by Repugnus had infiltrated the city with the help of Grimlock. As the Energon Masters battled Grimlock, Bumblebee arrived with those he freed from the dungeon and revealed that the Enbergon Masters were the same as the bugs. When Affluous rejected the notion, Teknicus revealed that Affluous forced him to build the machine that segregated the Monsterbots. When Bumblebee destroyed the machine, Coolus transformed into a beast mode similar to the bugs'. The Monsterbots' celebrated their reunion as a beast-mode Affluous fled in defeat. • Repugnus Revenge (Target-exclusive gift set, 2020)

Part of Target's Cybertronian Villains line of store exclusives, Cyberverse Repugnus Revenge includes three newly-molded Pesticons of a smaller Tiny Turbo Changer-style, one of which is colored blue to represent Coolus.

This set was a center of confusion for many fans, as it showed up in Target stores without a prior announcement from Hasbro. While this is not uncommon for Cyberverse exclusives, all toys in the set are labeled as Decepticons. Oddly accurate to the show, the packaging shows the larger Repugnus in robot mode compared to the smaller Pesticons in beast mode, similar to how the Monsterbots were presented in the cartoon.

Notes

• Coolus' insect-beast mode is inspired by the Titan Master accessory vehicle included with Generation 1 Repugnus's Titans Return toy. Her robot mode, meanwhile, is heavily inspired by the original Repugnus' special edition Titans Return toy.
• While Coolus is unaligned in the cartoon, the toyline lists him as a Decepticon. Of course, he was semi-antagonistic in the cartoon, serving Affluous until he learned of his true colors in the end.
