Thermal weaponry
From MediaWiki
To pack that extra punch, some Transformers wield melee weapons that not only cut, smash or crush, but will singe whatever they choose to turn their weapons upon. Examples of such weaponry include thermal swords, thermal maces, and thermal clubs. Heated weaponry is popular among Cybertronians in many universes, and some of their weapons boast maximum heat emissions that are astoundingly high.
Fiction
Generation 1
- Rampage appreciates the simpler things in life. Music videos. Reality TV. Burying his thermo-sword in an Autobot and watching as its 8000-degree-Centigrade blade melts their armor like ice cream in summer.
- Swoop's thermal sword is more or less identical to Rampage's thermo-sword, but his cooks only up to 4000 degrees Centigrade. Wussie.
- Weirdwolf also wields a thermo sword, which can slice through a three-inch thick sheet of steel, allowing him to mangle Autobots almost as much as he mangles his sentences.
- Waverider packs a thermal broadaxe, which he should probably keep handy the next time he tries to give Grimlock a pep talk.
Another Time & Place

Springer used a thermal knife to sever Fangry's hands on Hydrus Four. Another Time & Place
Animated
- All three Dinobots wield thermal weaponry:
- Grimlock wields a massive, jagged thermal sword with a blade that can emit flames on command.
- Swoop has a thermal mace to swing around. Just like Grimlock's weapon, Swoop can will the mace's head to burst into flames.
- Snarl lugs around a thermal club to bop his enemies with. Following the trend set by the other two Dinobots, a large portion of his club catches on fire whenever Snarl wants, stopping short of his hand so that he himself doesn't get hurt.
2015 Robots in Disguise cartoon
- Rampage carried a thermo-sword. When the Bee Team was trapped in an ice cavern, Strongarm would recall Rampage's choice of weapon, and she and Sideswipe reconfigured their Decepticon Hunters to function as thermo-swords, allowing them to escape. Defrosted

Animated

- Grimlock (Voyager, 2008)
- Japanese ID number: TA-17
- Accessories: Flaming sword
- Part of the third wave of Animated Voyagers, Grimlock transforms into a robotic tyrannosaurus rex. A mechanized switch in the right robot mode wrist interacts with a spring-loaded feature in his fiery sword, revealing pop-out flames when the wrist is tilted. Despite a claim on the packaging that Grimlock's sword can be fitted into his beast mode's mouth to simulate breathing fire, this is sadly not possible.

- Goldfire Grimlock (Voyager)
- Accessories: Flaming sword
- Goldfire Grimlock would have been a redeco of his Voyager toy, sporting a gold and black color scheme, with a few silver parts too. Me, Grimlock, King!
- Swoop (Deluxe, 2008)
- Japanese ID number: TA-19
- Accessories: Flail
- Part of the fourth wave of Animated Deluxes, Swoop transforms into a robotic pteranodon. He comes with a flail weapon which can be stored under his foot in beast mode.
- The flail weapon seems to have an abandoned gimmick where pushing in the bottom of the ball would activate pop-out flames. Apparently, it was abandoned after the realization that if a child swallowed the weapon, the flames popping out would make the kid's esophagus worse for wear. However, this gimmick can somewhat be reactivated with a small modification [1], allowing the flames to be partially revealed. A slightly more complex modification can be done to allow the flames to raise to full height when they pop out [2], resulting in the inner curve of the flames matching the curve of the ball—a look which indicates this is much closer to the original intention.

- Snarl (Deluxe, 2008)
- Japanese ID number: TA-18
- Accessories: Club
- Part of the third wave of Animated Deluxes, Snarl transforms into a robotic Triceratops. His shoulderpads/hind leg hips feature spring-loaded pop out "flames". He comes with a large club which does not store in his beast mode anywhere.
