Shrapnel is a heroic Decepticon Insecticon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.

It really bugs us that we couldn't think of a good joke to put here.

Shrapnel (aka Skrapnel) is a heroic Insecticon. He has electric powers which he uses for justice.

Fiction

IDW Shattered Glass comic

Skrapnel led the Insecticon battle squad into Goldbug's fortress to rescue Starscream from captivity. While frying Searchlight with his electric powers, he asked Venom if he missed the fighting, before giving him a joyful high five. Immediately after, Skrapnel and the others engaged Goldbug, who took out most of the team in mere moments. Skrapnel and Venom were left the last ones standing, but the former soon met his own end by being blasted in the chest by the warlord's cannon. The wounded Venom reached toward Skrapnel's corpse in his own last moments before Goldbug ended him as well. Shattered Glass #4

Collector's Edition Zaptrap was officially repurposed as Shattered Glass Shrapnel.

A redeco of the Insecticon Shrapnel mold, Zaptrap transforms into a mechanical stag beetle. The "control seat" in the insect-mode back / robot-mode chest can open up and store one of the three energon cubes that come with the set. Zaptrap was only available in an e-HOBBY exclusive Collector's Edition set with Salvo and Shothole.

Timelines Zaptrap was officially repurposed as Shattered Glass Skrapnel.

Timelines Zaptrap is a red, black, gray, and blue redeco of the Generations Skrapnel toy. He is roughly the size of a Cyberverse Commander Class toy and transforms into a robotic interpretation of a stag beetle. He was available at BotCon 2015 as an attendee-only bonus figure, and came packaged with Spy-Eye and Beet-Chit. Both smaller figures can be wielded by Zaptrap in Waruder soldier mode via their 5 mm post, or mounted on his back in insect mode.

This mold was also retooled into Chop Shop.

Notes

• The original version of Shrapnel only appeared on the One Generation Shattered lithograph print that was available at BotCon 2008. It would not be till 2021's Shattered Glass series that "Skrapnel" made an appearance in actual fiction.
