Laserbeak is a Decepticon Mini-Cassette from the EarthSpark continuity family.

Do not assume that Laserbeak is harmless. His small size, combined with his flight capabilities and fire power, make him a more complicated threat than one would assume. He can also attack his opponents with sonic waves, which become even stronger when combined with that of his fellow cassette-bots. And much like them, he has a personal history of servitude with Soundwave. Like his compatriot Frenzy, Laserbeak is also quite a talker once you get him going.

Laserbeak was among the Decepticon troops led by Megatron during their war against the Autobots. Secret Legacy, Part 1 While Megatron joined Optimus Prime, believing that working with humans was the only way forward, Laserbeak stayed with Soundwave as one of a number of hold out Decepticons.

As part of a plan to free the Decepticons captured by G.H.O.S.T., Soundwave had Ravage, Laserbeak and Frenzy steal Agent Schloder's ID badge. The trio were intercepted by Optimus Prime and Megatron, and Laserbeak had no qualms about engaging his former leader in combat, with the trio using their Tri-Tone ability to great effect. The arrival of Bumblebee with restraining bolts resulted in their capture. During their transportation to G.H.O.S.T. HQ, Soundwave attacked the Autobot convoy and freed the cassettte-bots with an electromagnetic pulse. The trio briefly attacked Megatron before turning their attention to the Terran and human Malto kids. They soon discovered that their Tri-Tone attack was easily interrupted by the catchy tune the kids had made up, allowing Bumblebee to recapture them, however Megatron persuaded Optimus to allow the cassette-bots to go free, believing the imprisonment of Cybertronians by G.H.O.S.T. to be wrong. Jury's still out if me or the one from the movie is creepier when we talk

Laserbeak and Frenzy later fell in with the Bot Brawl ring based out of Philadelphia, under the service of the anti-Cybertronian scientist Mandroid. There they provided wrestling-style commentary over the bouts, most notably for one where an undercover Bumblebee fought the mind-controlled Grimlock. When Bumblebee, with the aide of his friends from the Malto family, were able to free Grimlock, Laserbeak and Frenzy were sent running along with the rest of the audience as the Dinobot went a fire-breathing rampage that destroyed the arena. • This is the first example of Laserbeak properly speaking in animation, which is otherwise commonplace in other media.
