I'm kind of working with the template that was here to begin with, so could someone tell me what's expected for "Transformers References" and "Real World Reference" sections? Also, what constitutes a minor character or a major character? --Infinata 23:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

"Transformers references," for MTMTEp1-3, I would think, would be non-existent. There wasn't any Transformers to reference back to yet. :) "Real World Reference" would be mentioning if, say, the Ruby Crystal Mines of Burma actually exist or not. As for major or minor characters, use your own judgment. I tend to peg the major characters as those who have speaking roles or do important things and the minor characters the ones who appear in the background or do very little. --ItsWalky 01:51, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Is Teletraan I concidered a character?

It talks, so I'd say sure. --ItsWalky 02:18, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

So could I put him up on the character list for this episode?

As long as you format him properly in there. Those numbers after all the names indicate the order in which the characters appeared in the episode. You'll have to figure out when Teletraan I first spoke, give him the proper number, and then renumber everyone who appeared after him. --ItsWalky 02:23, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Got it I'll watch the episode again.

Uh, just a quick question: Why are there two (I'm not sure how to call it) "episodenav"s? I know this series has a Japanese version, but maybe, just maybe, two "episodenav"s is a little too much? I mean no offense! Please don't get angry! I'm just confused! -- Hwin

The answer is only known to our admin and editor of most things 80s Japanese G1, Chris McFeely. I was wondering myself, as I thought it looked messy. --FFN 06:49, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
The second nav box is, indeed, for the Japanese version. Although you won't notice the difference for a couple of episodes if you start clicked ahead from MTMTE Pt 1, the Japanese version puts the episodes into quite a different order, and inserts several of its own, new episodes into the mix as well, so it realy does need a separate set of nav links. However, you're right - it doesn't need to be two nav boxes. After I'd gone through and added all the links to a the pre-movie episodes, the dual nav boxes that we use for the US/UK comics were brought to my attention (see here, for example). Unfortunately, I have noooooo clue how to tweak the coding of the episode template to create this effect, and am waiting for some kindly soul with the know-how to fix it up for me. - Chris McFeely 10:51, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you both! --Hwin 08:54, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Animation glitch

"When Hound and Cliffjumper are being chased by laserbeak, when he shoots at them his gun is visable but no Laserbeak."

As I understand it, this wasn't an error. Hound and Cliffjumper split up so "at least one of [them] will make it back to Prime." Laserbeak followed Hound, dispatching only his gun to follow Cliffjumper.

Main pic

Can we drop the video covers as the main pic for these pages, and just have them on the Family Home Entertainment page?

a) it's inconsistent with the eps that don't happen to have their own video
b & c) a couple of times I have thought I was on the wrong page because I was looking for the episode, not the video, and I couldn't tell that the page is actually about the episode because all the content is pushed down way below the fold
d) these episodes have been released several times by several different companies, what makes these versions more notable than the others?

I tend to agree. Unfortunately they're way too big to be where they are. --abates 02:15, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
I like them, for the most part. It's rare we get to use non-screencap portrayals of events in the cartoon. I do think the one for FFOD #1 should change, because it doesn't show what happens in the episode. On the flip side, I'd love to see that VHS cover with Magnus and the Quintesson used for "The Killing Jar". -- Repowers 08:10, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
So, we've got one for and one against. Anyone else care to chime in? - Magnus Maximus 11:31, 22 October 2009 (EDT)
I like having the video covers when we have them. --ItsWalky 11:45, 22 October 2009 (EDT)
What about having a gallery at the bottom (similar to the issue cover gallery on comics pages), showing the various video releases? Khajidha 18:17, 14 December 2009 (EST)
I kind of plan to do something like that anyway, once I've finished doing up the various home video pages. - Magnus Maximus 18:56, 14 December 2009 (EST)

If we are going to keep them, can we at least make them a bit smaller (comic covers aren't that big) and take out the {{TOC}} template so at least some of the content will be above the fold? - Magnus Maximus 17:28, 14 December 2009 (EST)

I've made a mock-up of the idea at User:Magnus Maximus/EpNav/doc, where the pic is set to the comic covers' size if you return the "vidcover" field as true, but the template stays the same width. Thoughts? - Magnus Maximus 19:08, 14 December 2009 (EST)

What does Prowl say?

What does Prowl say when the Autobots are in the Ark and just got clear of the asteroid field? It sounds like "utrex report: We are being followed." - Starfield 00:08, 13 December 2009 (EST)

I think its "view-trex" (possibly spelled differently). I always figured it was technobabble for "look at the monitor screen". Khajidha 00:39, 13 December 2009 (EST)
"viewtrex" one word. (It was used in Wreckers #2.) It appears to be a specific type of report, with consolidated data. -Derik 17:34, 14 December 2009 (EST)

Another Continuty Error?

At the oil rig, Megatron orders Starscream to use his null ray to stop the pumping of the oil. Wouldn't Megatron want the oil to continue to be pumped? It sounds obvious, but I want to clear it with everyone just in case there's a logic to it that I'm missing. - Zadok Rox 12:33, 15 January 2010 (EST)

error how?

Oddly enough, nobody opens fire during the scuffle when the Decepticons board the Ark... not even Megatron. how is this an error Megatron more then likely did not wish to damage the ship's command center (bridge) because he was trying to take it over Chasemarc 15:19, 10 December 2012 (EST)

Rainmakers

I'm confused - if Bitstream and Hotlink are the guys from this episode, why are they Rainmakers? --flicky1991 04:43, 28 June 2013 (EDT)

I dunno, but Hotlink's bio makes it clear that those are the guys from that scene, if their color schemes didn't already. Mimi 05:11, 28 June 2013 (EDT)
"Lets talk the "Rainmakers"... Please consider the term for the Troop Builder set to be a little more generic for this offering." That's from the Botcon Twitter feed. It's not totally clear what it's supposed to mean, but it sounds like FP decided all generic Seekers are Rainmakers, which good call there FP. -LV 11:45, 28 June 2013 (EDT)
So, after dispelling the rumor that Sunstorm was the Yellow Rainmaker, it was later decided that he was a Rainmaker after all - just not THAT Rainmaker. My head hurts. --Khajidha 16:52, 28 June 2013 (EDT)

Japanese Version

Hi everybody, I'm a late coming exile from the world of the for-profit-special-interest-wiki world (that shall remain nameless, but rhymes with "and dumb" if you squint a little). Anyway, I have been sucked back into the magical world of Transformers recently and I came across something that's not mentioned on the page. I'm so used to just hopping in and editing things on the fly, but as a new user I figured I'd make my presence known and make sure I'm doing it right. I am currently in the process of trying to translate the Japanese version of the original series. Between a combination of my meager Japanese skills (I'm still learning and have a long way to go), the stories not navigating far from the English plots, and machine translation I'm doing a decent job. Maybe something I'd put out after I have someone more fluent take a look at it, but anyway, not the point of my post... Okay, so I was watching the Japanese version of MTMTE Part 1 while doing timing, and you know that scene where the Decepticons are boarding the Ark and they just looped the boarding scene with Prime issuing orders and then Megatron ordering an attack? Well in the Japanese version, only Convoy is talking through that repeated shot. He's basically just ordering his troops to prepare for battle and then to attack.

I thought it'd be interesting to mention but I didn't want to go in an cold editing without saying hello and explain my intentions and get a clear idea of how things are done around here (Each Wiki being an authority onto their own, and all that). I mean the general rules are probably all the same and I swear I'll comb through the really dry community standards at some point, but NGL just dropping in an editing a major page moments after signing up is always sus, so y'know I tempered my compulsion and decided to ask first.

Anyway, not sure how actively I am going to be a contributor, maybe just pop in an add a few things here or there, but I hope to at least provide some interesting or useful information every now and again. Cheers!
