The current Doctor X is Mercy Gale, a rogue member of the Action Man Programme who seeks world peace by any means necessary.

2005 IDW continuity
During Megatron's invasion of Earth, Mercy Gale made sure that the Decepticon forces stayed out of London. Years later, once her criminal intentions were exposed, she got drunk in the Redcliffe Club (after Storm Shadow killed everyone else in the club) before she was approached by Baron Ironblood, recruiting for his anti-Cybertronian squad. Though Mercy had no desire to travel to Cybertron, she agreed to lend him Storm Shadow and the Red Shadows in exchange for the Talisman upgrading their prosthetic limbs. Redcliffe Club Until the time came for the Talisman's deployment, Colton had Garrison Kreiger turn over the Talisman to Mercy, who used her SIS connections to store it in a bunker beneath Verenya. After the Revolutionaries had stumbled upon the Talisman and the larger scheme, Mercy was on Section Sabine when Action Man was inadvertently teleported onto the station, where she asked Ian to stand down, lest things turn ugly. Things turned ugly when Ian killed a Red Shadow and started a running firefight, only for Storm Shadow to corner him. When the Revolutionaries and Micronauts arrived, the villains saw fit to retreat, content to leave the Talisman behind, knowing they could return for it. Enter the Shadow Afterwards, Mercy joined Ironblood in trying to convince Tomax Paoli to retake the mantle of Cobra Commander. They failed, but Centurion managed to seal the deal. Mercy then travelled to the Project Ice Man facility in Brasnya where Kreiger and Ironblood reported that the Revolutionaries would soon be knocking down the door. Mercy dared them to try. The Iron Klaw
After the Revolutionaries had succeeded in storming the Ice Man facility and captured Kreiger, they brought him back to the Onyx tower in Buenos Aires to await a G.I. Joe squad to take custody of the man and the Talisman. Using her skills, Mercy infiltrated the tower and held Action Man and Bryce Chan at gunpoint as they examined the Dire Wraith mutates. Though Ian offered Mercy a chance to stand down and join them, Mercy promptly shot Bryce with her stun gun. Ian opted to shoot the locks holding the Wraith mutates before he grabbed Bryce and left Mercy to the mercy of the creatures. After Metrotitan and Blackrock had succeeded in curing the mutates, the villainous cabal teleported away via M.A.S.S. Device, with X and Storm Shadow being forced into the risky move of teleporting with the Talisman itself. Rematerializing within the Iron Castle, Mercy gave the traditional "Yo, Joe" after Colton declared it was time to take the fight to Cybertron itself. Ghost in the Machine

Notes
- The Mercy Gale incarnation of Doctor X is an original character created for the 2016 IDW Action Man comic. Her unnamed predecessor is modeled mainly on the 1995 DIC cartoon version of the villain.
- Campbell Lane was one of the voices of Doctor X in the 2000 Mainframe Action Man cartoon.
