The Gulf of Mexico is a body of water on Earth, bordering the northeast of Mexico and southeast of the United States of America. It is near the Caribbean Sea.

When Iguanus, Skullgrin, and Bomb-Burst attacked the Keeler Oil Terminal in the Gulf of Mexico and took it hostage, they were attacked by Splashdown, Landmine, and Cloudburst. During the battle, a human plane was hit by a stray blast, and the Autobots and Decepticons had to work together to prevent it from crashing into the oil refinery and blowing everyone up. The Chain Gang!

2005 IDW continuity

When the Decepticons learned that the Autobots were hiding the Ark-19 in Lake Michigan, the Autobots decided to relocate the craft to the Gulf of Mexico. However, it was shot down by Sixshot Devastation #1 and crashed in the Gulf, where it self-destructed. Devastation #2
