- Spy Shot & Claw Gun (Roleplay, 1999)
- Released as part of the Beast Wars Neo toyline, the Spy Shot & Claw Gun roleplay toy is made up of three components; the blue soft foam Spy Bird, the Spy Shot pistol, and the red and gold non gun shaped Claw Gun. The Spy shot is loaded by pulling the sliders on either side back and slotting the solid plastic piece on the bottom of the Spy Bird into it. The Spy Shot trigger won't be able to fire unless the Spy Bird is inserted, as it needs to push back a small plastic "safety". If the Claw Gun is attached when fired, it makes an electronic noise. It will also snap the gold claw forward if it was pulled back. The Claw Gun can also be worn on one finger as a separate weapon. The wearer can cause the noise and claw snap action by flexing their finger to press the button on the underside.
Notes
- The tagline on the front of the box says The Spy Bird dances through the skies! Growl, claw gun!". It may indicate that the toy is intended to be alive in some way, though if so, there was no hint of that in the cartoon.
- Stampy gives a warning on the back of the packaging telling you not to shoot the Spy Shot at other people. Good advice.
- There was some confusion over the translation of the Claw Gun's name, with some believing it to be Crow Gun. Claw Gun is printed on the front of the box confirming it to be the correct. Since it is printed with blue text partially on the blue Spy Bird, it is easy to see how this may have been missed at a glance.
- The Claw Gun included two button button cell batteries for it's electronic function. Unfortunately years later it's very common open a sealed Spy Shot & Claw Gun and find them heavily corroded, to the point where the electronics are no longer functional.
