Age of Origins

After the destructive and apocalyptic event known as the Great Cataclysm, the Age of Origins began on Cybertron. Acting as a Cybertronian equivalent to the early ages of human history, the Age of Origins is the bridge between the first ages of myths and monsters and the following ages of technological advancement and intergalatic expansion.

The Covenant of Primus
The Great Cataclysm had devastated the surface of Cybertron with deadly solar flares, forcing surviving Cybertronians underground. The Patterners, led by Azimuth, began to study magic, logic, and patterns out of a desire to understand the potential scientific or supernatural causes of the disaster. They discussed theories in the dark until it became safe to return to the surface. The Patterners began carving their work, their patterns, onto the surface of Cybertron, so that future Cybertronians could understand what had occurred and why. This small group rapidly grew in number, with Perceptor and Reflector joining their ranks, as they carved the entire surface of their world with geometric patterns tracing out star movements, galaxies, and the flow of time. The Patterners would eventually splinter into various cults and clubs, including the cult of Random led by the "mad leader" Galvatron, who Azimuth despised.
The Patterner movement marked the beginning of societal development, as warlords, kings, queens, and states emerged over hundreds of stellar cycles. The earliest incarnation of the Wreckers began protecting vulnerable Cybertronians from marauder groups like the Vandals, Breakers, and Ravagers. During this time, the plains of Iacon eventually became an early version of modern Iacon, becoming a city-state of learning. Alpha Trion would establish the Hall of Records at Iacon, while a young Ratchet would leave a small village to become an apprentice to Chief of Surgery Remedy at Iacon.
The Artifacts of the Primes would be gathered and protected by the remaining Primes, who eventually became myths and legends among the developing societies across Cybertron. But without the Primes, no one could protect Cybertron from the alien menace studying them from across the stars. It was their appearance in the skies of Cybertron and their "gift" of Transformation that would mark the end of the Age of Origins. The Covenant of Primus
